Maia was always a huge advocate for self care. And even more than that, she was also a firm believer in always having a good pedicure. There was no hope for her hands, they were always covered in leftover paint from one of her projects that she hadnât been able to scrub off and were constantly abused by the continuous beatings she put them through during her art work. But her feet, well, at least she could make sure her feet looked nice.Â
She had a standing, monthly appointment at the Beauty Bar that today she was especially looking forward to. With all of the inner turmoil she had been experiencing lately, what with realizing she was starting to develop real feelings for her best friend, she really needed this time to relax and unwind. She walked into the shop, eager for a little pampering, until she spotted a familiar brunette also getting a pedicure. Maiaâs shoulders slumped a little bit. It wasnât that she didnât like Deanâs sister, in fact, deep down, Maia really wished that they could be friends. But sheâd long ago given up that hope for the youngest Holder, as the female had made it clear she didnât trust Maia... even after all this time of being Deanâs friend. And if Maia were being truthful, sheâd have to admit that Rose intimidated her.
Standing at the reception waiting on the lady who would be giving her a pedicure today, Maia made a point of keeping her gaze away from the area Rose was in. Maybe theyâd end up being seated far enough apart from each other that they could pretend they hadnât seen each other? Or maybe they would only have to share the uncomfortable greeting they reserved for each other in social settings? As Maia greeted Cheryl, one of her favorite people at the shop with a hug, and followed her in the direction of the pedicure stations, she found herself quietly wishing, _not next to Rose, not next to Rose, not next to Rose _over and over again. Seems as though the fates were not in her favor though, because of course Cheryl lead her to the seat right next to Roseâs. With a resigned âthanks,â to Cheryl, Maia turned towards her seat, offering Rose a small smile. âHi, Rose.â she greeted quietly. Â
