I think my favorite part with them is that they literally grew from being two men who didn't trust each other/were suspicious of each other to it literally being them against the world. Like, they both grew to trust each other and I think the turning point in their relationship was when Chief Nam died? And when Ju-Won told Dong-sik that he was going after the guy, it reminded Dong-sik of his previous partner and he's like....I already lost one, I can't lose you too. And this scene

I think after this scene is when they started to grow and I think that's beautiful.

Also, another worthy mention is when they're eating lunch together and Ju-Won actually eats this time? Like, normally it's just Dong-sik eating but not this time. Ju-Won eats too and he actually enjoys what he's eating?

Do you outline: no. i get a life experience -> i get pulled into a deeper conscious -> lightbulb on -> i sit on the toilet -> write. most of my fics come fr my own wild thought abt life or my life experience/interaction. i just channel myself into the character and leisurely enter their world.

Ideas I probably won’t get around to but wouldn’t it be nice: im not sure. yuezhi raw times. but im not good at writing smut so, self yeet.

1. When Lee Dong-sik and Han Ju-Won arrested Kang Jin-Muk. You have no idea how much I mentally screamed (because my dad was in the room when I was watching it on my laptop) when it happened. Like, Han Ju-Won coming out of the shadows like some god damn grim reaper

and then Lee Dong-sik looking down at him

like this is easily one of my favorite scenes. Easily.

2. When Chief Nam dies and Han Ju-Won holds Lee Dong-sik and Lee Dong-sik grabs his hand and they're both just sobbing and idk man, it just tugs on my heartstrings

3. When Dong-sik finds his sister. Like, it's horrible that it happened, but I'm glad he finally found her. He's been searching for 21 years, wondering what the fuck happened to her, and then he finally finds her. Of course it's awful that it's in the boiler room wall and he didn't know she was in there, but he finally found her

4. When Lee Dong-sik and Han Ju-Won finally have a fucking meal together where Han Ju-Won actually eats and enjoys the meal. Like, it's one of the very few and very rare soft moments in the drama and I was super happy to see it because it shows Han Ju-Won's growth and how he's slowly softening

5. This fucking scene right fucking here. Nobody touch me. I'm emotional

What made you ship it?

Fuck man, I don't know what made me ship it...maybe the way Zhan Junbai looked at Yu Tangchun, like he was studying him and wanted to learn all of his inner workings. And then the fucking tailor shop scene. Will we ever know if Yu Tangchun did that on purpose or if his body just moved on its on volition? Who the fuck knows but who the fuck cares. Hit me with that good whump shit, man

What are your favorite things about the ship?

My favorite thing about these fuckers is that they're so...fucked up? If that's the right term for them. They're fucked up, they're messy, but my god do they love each other deep down, even if they don't realize it. Also, it's fun to play around with their dynamics and what not

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

They deserved a happy ending

Which is also why I'm going to shamelessly plug my Killer and Healer rewrite 恨君不似江楼月 | Killer and Healer where these fuckers will get a happy ending because why? They deserve it (fic is still currently being written but there will be a happy ending, make no mistake about that)

If it was set in modern times, what do you think are five changes that would happen with the characters/story/etc. because of the change of setting (time and place)?

Okay...five changes...

There would be like....actual help for Jiang Yuelou and his mental problems. Like, during when Killer and Healer is set, there's not a lot on mental health and medicine and treatment for that but now in the modern times, there's so much research being done on mental health that Jiang Yuelou could actually get help. Like he could see a fucking therapist and not just have to rely completely on Chen Yuzhi (who was definitely still learning about mental health and mental disease during the drama)

I think probably the technology for finding criminals would be a lot better because hello, we got AFIS and DNA and all this forensic stuff that can help narrow suspects down, rather than people just going off word of mouth. I mean, yeah that shit kind of works but like...forensics. Forensics would definitely help with everything (and maybe I'm a little biased because forensics is my thing)

Keying's kidnapping would maybe change? Like, yeah brothels are a thing but like...with modern times, human trafficking is like...fucking huge. It's a huge network so I think that part of the story would be focused on a bit more other than just being like...yeah we'll find your sister and then never speaking about it for like how many episodes

Same with like the opium dens and Jinma Hall...like that could get pretty big too. Just because in the drama, once they took out like "the leaders" shit kind of died down and it all but disappeared but like...that's not how it works in modern times. Most gangs/triads will go into hiding and then regroup later once they find a new leader. They don't just die off unless they have no one that's willing to step up. So maybe the drug dealing would be bigger, because drug trafficking is also pretty big in modern times.

What do you think would have been the breaking point, or turning point for Zhan Junbai to help Jiang Yuelou and the others against his uncle/turn against his uncle for Yu Tangchun? Or what do you think should have/would have had to be different in canon for that to happen?

We see how much he clings to his ideas/beliefs (and my own thoughts on this is because the guilt was too overwhelming to deal with if he had to face that it was in fact wrong) but what if he could face what he did and was able to understand both his feelings for Yu Tangchun and his true feelings for what he did to him and his family, how would he be able to do that? And what would be the fallout? What do you think?

I honestly think the breaking point was when Yu Tangchun blew himself up. Like, we saw how devastated Zhan Junbai was afterwards...like look at this man's face

Homeboy is devastated. And then the literal next scene is where he smashes a fucking vase because he's both angry and super hurt. And then his uncle has to show up acting all high and fucking mighty and I'm pretty sure it takes everything in Zhan Junbai not to fucking throttle him.

And I think you're right, he's holding onto his beliefs/everything because he doesn't want to admit that what he did to Tangchun's family was wrong, he wants to think that he was doing the "right" thing which it obviously was not...

Like, the first real crack was when Zhan Junbai figured out who Yu Tangchun really was and then shit just sort of spiraled from there. It didn't fucking help that Yu Tangchun tried to fucking shoot his uncle because that just made the crack bigger and then the straw that broke the camels back was Yu Tangchun blowing himself up. I think that really would have been Zhan Junbai's wake up call. Once he realized that there really wasn't a point to life if Yu Tangchun wasn't in it, I think he definitely would have told Jiang Yuelou about his uncle's plan and done everything in his power to stop it.

I don't think he would be able to come to terms with his feelings right away...I think he knows they're there, both for Yu Tangchun and for what he did to his family, but it might take a while to recognize them. If Jiang Yuelou arrests him and places him in jail, he'd have plenty of time to think it over and come to terms with what he did and what he felt for Yu Tangchun.

Because lets be honest, they both felt something for each other. We know they did. Problem was, they both thought that it was a bad idea to have feeligns for the other, mainly because it was like "falling in love with the enemy" so to speak.

Oh my god, yesssssss. I've honestly never seen either of their work before but holy shit, I love them. They both click really well, which is why I always say they give me Jiang Yuelou/Chen Yuzhi vibes or Bai Yutong/Zhan Yao vibes because these two pairings just work. And what makes it better is that the actors have really great chemistry in the behind the scenes so that makes it even better!

Are they making me wanna write a crossover between them and K&H? Maybe. Do I have time to do such a thing? No. But do I want to? Yes.
