She appeared in a dream...Â
Owner: Me TH ProfileÂ
Name: Roscha [ROW-sha] Pronouns: she/her, it/its Idea: Impartiality of the Waters Particularly, how the oceans and waters churn and flow, heedless of who lives and dies by its hands. It is life, death, destruction, beauty. But most of all, it simply is.
Abilities She can manipulate and create water, and particularly cause miracles and disasters involving water at will and whim. She is extremely powerful and, in theory, cause natural disasters that could wipe out entire cities if left unchecked by other magical/powerful forces. This does take significant amounts of effort, of course.
She can also observe from any body of water she is connected to - and most bodies of water are connected somehow, so she can simply watch as the entire world goes by. When it rains, she has a fuzzy sense of everywhere else it is raining. She can also have a sense of how the waters will act, i.e. if a storm will hit an area. Personality Roscha simply cares very little for much of anything, and acts largely on whim as opposed to any moral reasoning. However, she is not whimsical - she doesn't use her powers haphazardly. Most of the time she simply is just There, observing, but just can't be bothered.Â
Her acts may appear to others as good or evil, but the difference does not matter to her: she may grant rains to an area in drought, but cares little if it floods or causes any other sort of disaster.Â
History Roscha is very, very old; she was born in the beginnings of civilization, when humanity was still superstitious and did not understand the magic of the world, in a village of cliffs by the sea. She was born with her Idea, and has always understood that the ocean has no mercy. To her village, she was a strange child - eyes like the ocean, always standing by the sea. She would know when the storms would come, and would even know when the sailors had little chance of returning. "You will die," she told them.
The town grew wary of her. They thought her some apparition of the ocean, or the child of the ocean's god. Or some evil spirit bringing bad luck to the sailors. Magic was still very uncommon among humanity at that time, and when she was seen manipulating water, she was brought to the village's elder, who in turn brought the town together to decide her fate. And the town decided that she must be returned to the ocean.Â
So they bound her arms and brought her to the cliffs. The elder asked if there was anything more she wanted to say, and- "the ocean will churn no matter what you do. It has no will. It is nature, it is merciless. It provides and takes. But I know... it will accept me." And so she went. Down, down... into the water. She did not fight it. But in the last fading moments, she knew: this is where she is meant to be.Â
And she actualizes, her physical form being consumed by a bright blue light that bursts out of the water and takes of form of the Edeia, Roscha. The villagers watch her with awe, wonder, fear. She does not care. She dives back into the ocean, deep, deep below, and there she stays for a long, long, time. Observing. Watching the world turn, watching the life and death and progress.Â
And that village - she has become a legend, a god to them. It started small at first, but they began to pray to her for safety and mercy, or for the blessing of rain. Some would curse others, asking that she take them at sea. She does not listen to them, mostly. But sometimes she does.Â
One day, another Edeia finds her at the bottom of the sea - "So you are real after all." The other Edeia invites her to come to the surface. "Why," she asks, the first time she's spoken in her new form. "Why not," the other answers, and she decides to go with it.Â
This is still prior to the age of secrecy - she can wander the world somewhat freely, and she does. She becomes a legend of a different sort, then - a wandering spirit that, if you are respectful, may be able to bless you with calm waters or nourishing rains. And for those who slight her, she would raze their homes with endless storms. (This was only somewhat true, as whether she acted still very much depended on her own whim.)Â
And then came the age of secrecy. She returns to the sea for those hundreds of years, watching the development of a humanity freed of magic. And then - an Edeia known as Order enlisted her help in smoothly revealing Edeia to society. She agreed on a whim, and after the reveal, she began her wanderings again.
