waitttt you have stan and ford DID hcs i love those....may interested parties hear about this pretty pleaseπ (if you so choose)
I'm literally so excited someone asked u have no idea- I have more Stan HCs than Ford HCs but that's only bc the Ford ones are new :3c
Also disclaimer these hcs ARE coming from someone that is a polyfrag system here we go
Stan's system is a little bigger and more complex than Ford's is, and Stan is also WAY less aware of it/his system functions a little more ""traditionally"" with higher barriers between the host and the rest of the system- while Ford is more aware of his other parts almost solely because he's in his own head so much more often and is just more likely to notice the changes and the loss of time/amnesia
As well as Stan's system almost doubling in size during his homeless/drifter years because holy shit, that's a LOT of life or death stress (and when i say 'doubling' he just went from like 3-4 to 6-7)
Ford has less barriers in his system than Stan does, but this doesn't mean the communication is any better, he's more likely to hear them talking and to remember things they did, but it's dependent on the alter- because some of them aren't really much different than Ford himself, while others are; on the flip side, most of Stan's alters are like almost entirely different people, parts of his personality that are bass boosted into lives of their own
I will now get into the different parts each of them have, and Stan's are going to be a bit more fleshed out just bc I have thought about stan DID waaay longer than Ford DID
Stan has to me typically 6-7 different parts including himself, number depending on if I'm working with trans stan or not and for the sake of this post i'm not 95% of the time though trans man stanley is real and lives in my head rent free and that is when I tack on a little girl alter to the roster
There are the earlier childhood ones, the token inner child/little that is Lee, there is a part that holds resentment and a lot of baggage in general and would be closer to a teen part that would just go by Stan, then there's Stanley himself- the face of the body and the system, the host- and something I think would happen later right around or post portal incident is that Stan and Stanley become just. A single part. To the world legally, and metaphorically in his head, Stanley dies- he has to start pretending to be Stanford so the part that is just Stanley kind of "dies" out, and there's just... Stan. Not quite Stanley and not quite Stanford.
Disclaimer, alters don't actually die, but the brain is a theater and can interpret events in ways that help it compartmentalize and cope, so it can feel/"seem" like a part dies when it actually changes drastically or goes dormant
Then there's another older part that acts as his system's gatekeeper, and I call this guy Stetson (a few of his alters' names i plucked from his fake IDs :^))- Stetson is who I would describe as 'the smart guy', the most responsible part, because he needs to be! He is also borderline an introject of Ford, because Stan's brain feels the safest in the hands of his big brother. It's a comfort for the system, and for the brain, there is no one else it would trust more to take care of it so Stetson is a lot like Ford personality wise, but with more of a focus on keeping Stanley alive and healthy- as healthy as they can be at least (mentally and physically). He tries to direct who fronts and for what but of course the brain and the other parts will still do what they want to sometimes
And that brings me to the other three, the alters that split during their drifter years; Constance, Andrew, and Hal.
Constance or Connie is a 16-22 year old part that presents them femininely, she is a sexual protector and at times (esp when they're old) a caretaker along with Stetson- I hc Stan doing a lot of sex work like a lot of you do and she is the alter that handled that, and even took over as the host for a few years when that's how they were surviving. She takes a lot after Caryn too and tends to emulate how their mother dressed and carried herself, of course with a lot more of Stan's traits mingled in and also just... more attentive and caring in general than Caryn ever was (she loved stan, she adored her little free spirit, but she was a very flawed mother and Stan's brain is coping by making a "better mom")
Hal and Andrew split a bit later, with Andrew spending most of his time 'alive' in central and south america, Andrew is the one that learned Spanish and primarily still speaks it, and he's the one that chewed them out of the trunk of a car. He's a lot more wild and unstable and prone to violence first talking later- he's a protector, yeah, but very physical one that holds onto anger hard and is also a persecutor making bad and straight up harmful and dangerous decisions. Stetson tries to keep him on a short leash as they get older and need to really keep those urges and tendencies in check
Hal on the other hand, while also a protector, is a lot more of a 'keep a level head and disengage if possible' type. He's stoic, he's quiet, he lets his body language do most of his talking. He's the part that learned to ride and care for a motorcycle, that drove with Jimmy's biker gang, who's favorite activity is working on the Diablo (especially because for ten years that was there home and none of them had the energy to really maintain it and keep it clean like he did). He wears the leather jacket and will give you the meanest mug you've ever seen if you start mouthing off at him, and if you still keep it up he'll clock you cold. Talk shit get hit.
A lot of Stan's system goes dormant or just quiet over the 30 years they're trying to get Ford back, and post-everything there's finally a chance to start enjoying life again and doing things they loved, and Stanley starts being alive again because Ford keeps metaphorically beating his heart every time he says his name
Now that I've gone on for several paragraphs about stan DID let me give you what I have about Ford DID so far lol
Ford imo has less "typical" DID, but not quite osdd, there are distinct parts aside from himself but they don't (usually!) end up as different as Stan's has. He also experiences less general time loss and amnesia than Stan, he has more of a handle on his own brain. AND while Stan is very unaware of his system, Ford is keenly aware of both of their systems, and even Stan knows more about Ford's alters than he knows about his own. Ford's just too smart for his own safety, and good lord his gatekeeper has tried to take the discovery knowledge away but HE JUST KEPT FIGURING IT OUT.
Speaking of his gatekeeper, like Constance is to Caryn, Ford has an alter that takes a lot after their dad. Older though, like Stetson is, and not being incredibly creative he goes by Brick. Ford's already been named after his dad anyway, might as well utilize that perfectly good and available middle name amiright? He's more of the stoic type, but unlike their dad Brick is deeply deeply caring- not just towards Ford/his system but also towards Stan. He's incredibly protective, and for a long time was the primary part making Ford take actual care of himself (making them eat, sleep, shower, etc). Being an actual father figure and not just an authoritative head of the house.
There's also the token inner child/little in Ford's system too, we call him Sixer, and he was much more around and vocal for longer than Lee was, especially right after Stan got kicked out ('how could you/we let that happen to him'), but eventually went quiet when the rest of the system became aggravated or outright ignored his guilting. Lee and Sixer get to reunite and be kids together again eventually though, don't worry <3
There's also a protector part that- like Stetson takes after Ford- this part takes after Stan, because Stanley had always been the one sticking up for and defending Ford so who would be better for that role?? This part, unfortunately, also starts to go quiet and more or less dormant after Stan's betrayal, because he reminds the brain too much of that anger and pain.
There is I think one or two more that we haven't done a lot to flesh out yet, but they are parts still very similar to Ford himself anyway, just different habits turned up to more extremes (like neglecting everything just to focus/work/study or his later paranoia)
And lastly, my favorite bit that is entirely non canon compliant, Bill is an alter in Ford's system
The stress of Stan's betrayal and him being kicked out, the loss of that safety and unconditional support, the stress of moving far from home entirely alone and starting college, the resulting entirely new social situations, and the new empty protector role, results in Bill splitting during their first semester at BMU. Bill fills MANY roles- social protector, persecutor, and even caretaker (solely due to the fact that he likes to feel good and look nice and do fun things, so he ends up taking care of body even more thoroughly than Brick does)
And Bill is unique as an alter; he's prone to co-fronting and talking DIRECTLY with Ford in the brain, he makes himself known and he's bad at pretending to be Ford himself. He also has a lot of what Ford would consider Stan's 'worst traits', he's almost an amalgam of those and FORD'S worst traits, while being something entirely new. He's difficult to control and he has a lot of bad habits, but for all his faults he still does his roles really well
He's trashing the house a good deal but he's also paying more rent than most of them, if you get what I mean
Anyway I think that's the brunt of my stan twins DID headcanons/ideas, I haven't even gotten to the incesty parts and their systems being weird about each other (like Constance and Brick having a whole weird dynamic lol) but this post is already long as fuck so if there's more interest i will GLADLY yap some more about them
mommy issues ford/daddy issues stan and their respective alters that help/make it weird and kinky Is Real To Me
