I’d root: “mean square!”

That's very close. When I created my ATLA accounts, I wasn't feeling creative, but happened to have an image of rms voltage on my screen and thought it sounded like a perfectly usable name.....sounds a lot like someone's initials! Something like this:

Incidentally, the speed of gas molecules, voltage, current, etc. all use the same general mathematics where something would have an actual mean of 0, which isn't that useful. So, we square it first to get rid of the negative, then find the mean, and then square-root it to line it up magnitude.
