What is this flag I found in my grandfather’s room? Extra info: he’s a Canadian Korean War vet so could be military?
from /r/vexillology Top comment: Despite the downvotes on u/Poetfuck's comment and their pretty rude tone, they are quite right about it being the flag of a military unit. This flag *is meant* to represent the [1st Candian Armoured Carrier Regiment](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1st_Canadian_Armoured_Carrier_Regiment) which was a specialized armoured unit transporting infantry with modified tanks. The unit was nicknamed the *Kangaroos*. Now I say "is meant" as it seems that the unit never actually flew that flag and was disbanded on June 20th, 1945 as it only had use on the European front during WWII. However, people wanting to keep the memory of this short lived unit alive have used this flag to represent the regiment. It can be seen on this [Facebook post](https://www.facebook.com/CanadianKangaroos/posts/a-tradition-continuesjust-arrived-a-new-photo-from-captain-brendon-rath-proud-gr/1929768927087282/) by the Canadian Kangaroo Regiment Archive account. Edit: Also, about the similarity to anarchy flags people have pointed out: a few of Canada's military flags use that design like the [Prince Edward Island Regiment](https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/services/military-history/history-heritage/official-military-history-lineages/lineages/armour-regiments/prince-edward-island-regiment.html) or the [Royal Canadian Medical Service](https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/ca%5Emedic.html).
What do you guys think of the flag collection so far in our common room?
