Mai usually wasnβt one to attend concerts. She liked music very much, but it was the combination of crowds and loudness, sounds and colors, that overwhelmed her. The only exception was classical music, which she didnβt listen to very much, but she enjoyed. Perhaps this is why she accepted the tickets for the concert from her acquaintances with more grace than usual, and how she ended up utterly enraptured by the musicianβs performance.
When it came to music- and life in general, actually, Maiβs standards could never be consideredΒ βlowβ. But even if they had been unrealistically high, she imagined she would still be blown away by the man called Ignazio Amaretto. The song he played was familiar to her, but it changed. Of course, every song did, depending on the artist and instruments, but Ignazio managed to transform this tuneβs colors from simple burgundy to colors akin to wine and chocolate, smooth like silk. And he did the same with every single song he performed, turning simple colors into something complex that she had trouble describing.
Thatβs why at the end of the concert, Mai resolved herself to meet this artist. She simply had to. Excusing herself from her acquaintances, she weaved through the crowds, not caring if she walked into places that she had no authority to enter, until she managed to finallyΒ find the man who performed.Β
βExcuse me!β Mai walked briskly to catch up to him.Β βYouβre Ignazio, arenβt you? I just wanted to tell you that youβre an amazing musician, truly! The way you played... I really canβt explain it without sounding crazy but it was amazing!β
