Yknow I noticed that too and I think Brennen was meaning to make death less of a thing to defeat people especially since they needed to gather clues cuz every time they murdered someone heās just like āWHELP 6 freshmen just murdered [Doreen/Johnny/Daybreak]ā
yeah i think heās also been moving away from combat where the combat enemies are actual people they can talk to and negotiate with because the players are... really not good at keeping them alive LOL. i wouldnāt bat an eye at the party killing enemies in any other setting but itās really visceral and jarring in fantasy highās setting and because the party is made up of high schoolers.
apart from the information gathering thing it really is upsetting that the first instinct of these kids is to go straight for the throat. you can see them in combat episodes figuring out how to do maximum damage to their enemies and they were fully prepared to kill these 12 year old dwarves before they retreated which. uhhhh.
