I was so happy when I saw the chapter title being "Leap of Faith", I thought it's the time MC would finally "Yes, I want to resolve this together". Oh but, we're not there yet.
I really like how the conversation was going. I read it really slowly to savour words by words. Parts of chapter that I love are
-The other boys trust him; you trust him.
The way it was present not in past form. It's trust not trusted. She still trusts him, even after how she reacted at the house before.
- And you had resolved yourself not to touch him during this meeting, not to risk being influenced or seduced by that touch — but in the end, heart pounding, you don’t move either.
GIRL! The boys are irresistable indeed! She knew she would waver if he touched her. Great job for MC for still focusing on the conversation not jumping on to him.
- “Well, look at us,” he says lowly. “You don’t trust me, either.”
Even my heart broke reading it. She internally said she trusts him before. But he judged her for not trusting him.
And the way Changbin just left her at the cafe. My heart was cracking hard like high magnitude earthquakes. He slapped her hard in the face, being brutally honest. She's protecting her heart and her life privacy, he's protecting his pride and his pack. I don't know where to side. I agree with Changbin though, 9 brains are better than one, talk it out together.
Oh, another one, I just love the part where MC thinking through who she should be talking to. She thinks Hannie is too alike with her??? I would like to know your inspiration on making fictional personality on each of the boys because until now I could not imagine Changbin being so stoic and stern based on just videos in the internet.
Okay, I'm done rambling. Love the chapter. I need to go finish my work for the day. May you have a great week ahead and stay healthy!
The title is referencing this part of chapter 64:
Changbin groans. “Why are we even putting this off?” he asks tiredly, rubbing at his temple. “We said we’d tell her, and god knows it’s been long enough. Let’s do it. Leap of faith.”
Comparatively, Minho’s voice is like a needle: thin and dangerous. “Do you remember what happened the last time you took a leap of faith?”
Which in turn is referencing Changbin's text conversation with MC back in chapter 60 😊 Self-reference is a little gauche but it's fun too hahahaha. In both cases it's like... making that leap but it not necessarily going well, I guess
"She internally said she trusts him before. But he judged her for not trusting him." I like that you pointed this out 💛 Changbin is a charming sure-talker in this chapter but it's not like he's completely correct here, either. They're both working off their own assumptions of the other. Such is life!
I'm glad both sides made sense to you! It's a tricky situation for sure
Their personalities in RON are sourced from all over! I watched a lot of their videos while planning this out, and I used to have a ton of notes, though I don't know where those are now 🤔
MC feeling like her and Han are similar is a recurring thing for them in RON, though! You see it in a bunch of their chapters together. It's kind of up to you to decide how accurate that is, as usual hahahaha
For Changbin-- I do think part of it, honestly, is that she is sometimes reading him as being stern or harsh where a more objective observer might describe him as blunt or composed. But also, Changbin definitely has it in him! Out of the boys he has the capability to be less polite, and when he's unhappy or doesn't like something it really shows on his face. We see him being a silly goofy little guy in content a lot of times, but he has a very measured, thoughtful side, too 🙆
I always recommend the 1 and 2 Kids Room videos for characterization. In this case....... maybeeee the 2026 Changbin x Han 2kr would be an interesting watch/rewatch for you? 🤔 I don't know if it was out yet when this chapter was planned or written, but I feel like there are some parts that could sort of go along a similar-ish vein
...Actually I ended up rewatching parts while answering this LOL so here are some things from the eng transcript:
CB: Because it’s hard for everyone, I’d be like, “Why is he doing that? Can’t he just hang in there a little?”
CB: I think I became able to treat… Jisung more as a person. He’s someone I care about a lot. More than you’d think. He’s my hurt finger (tl note: someone you worry/think about a lot and pay more attention to; affectionate term). Even when Han was struggling a bit, I’m sorry I was the most cold and blunt out of anyone. He might have wanted me to comfort him. But I don’t think I could do that, so it’s kind of… I regret it a lot.
Han: I think you’re kind of shy about comforting people… You go, “No, it’s not like that.” What do you even call that? It feels programmed!
CB: When it comes to Han, I’m sorry (/feels bad/has regrets), just in everyday life. In terms of expressing things, I could have done more. But I feel like I didn’t do that enough. Compared to the others, he was the member I stuck closest to, but also the one I was harshest with…
CB: [Because I feel sorry towards Han] I think I get more defensive and act more tsundere towards him… When he was struggling… I could have comforted him… But I was too cold and only said harsh things…
Thanks for reading, and for the ask! I hope this was interesting! 💛
