Also, seeing her assumptions about the boys’ intentions get negated in real time was such a treat 💕 I love when you show us mc’s thoughts drifting off. She’s the first space cadet mc I’ve ever read, and I just really like seeing how she thinks.
Darling Inso this chapter was everythingggggg
I loved the possessive kitty, the insistent claiming, and the Purringgggggg
I love that it was him that got that final confirmation.
I also didn’t miss the amount of times he grabs her wrists in this chapter 🫣🫠
Onto my question 🙆🏽♀️
Who all thought she was a beta? What was their reasoning?
I’m glad you liked it!! I know I always say this but I really do like this chapter a lot 🥰 Lino is so fun to write… dreamy sigh…. And I’m always happy to hear people noticing the space between what MC thinks and what is actually happening, thank you thank you 🫶💛
Ohhh, a question!! 💛 First, here are the boys who were pretty certain she was an omega, and when/why they came to that conclusion:
Chan: suspected it early based on the soulmate thing, came to believe it more and more because she does a lot of omega instinct stuff when she's not paying attention (accepting jackets, fiddling with fabrics and bedding, being obviously pleased with gifts/being fed, the kind of defensive caginess and expectation that when she speaks people will listen that’s typical of omegas in this universe)
Changbin: the clincher was when he came to get her from work in chapter 16 ( “I don’t really understand why he would pretend to be a beta,” Binnie says finally. […] “I get why it seems weird,” you say finally, quiet and as passive as you can make it, like you don’t have a single horse in this race, “but I think… Sometimes people see omegas as omegas first and individuals second. If Taewoong just wanted to make friends and work and date as a normal person… that would be really hard, I think. If everyone knew he was an omega.” )
Hyunjin: instincts, vibes, and what he could catch of her scent 🤷 But probably the easiest to persuade the other way out of this batch, too…? I don't think he really had a strong evidence moment...
Jeongin: instincts, vibes, what he could catch of her scent — and also similar to Chan, how she responds to things, especially re: personal space and (his) submissiveness. Paid a lot of attention to her reactions on their little date in chapter 23
Conversely, the ones who were least set on her being an omega were Felix and Seungmin! It’s less that they explicitly thought that she was a beta and more that they weren’t convinced she was an omega…? Neither of them had a specific moment like the others might have that felt like substantial omega evidence, but also I honestly think they might have just overthought it 😆 There’s a point really early on where— Oh, where is it, I can find it… Okay yes, chapter 4:
“That’s fine,” Felix assures quickly, eyes scanning over Seungmin’s face. He always was too perceptive of emotions for his own good. “I mean, that makes sense, since you didn’t talk to her, or touch her, or— Did you smell her?” Seungmin shakes his head. “She’s an omega?” Again, Felix hesitates. “We don’t actually… know?” “How can you not know? Didn’t you smell her?” “Yeah,” Felix says, “but she smelled… weird. Kind of chemically and dull, but different from how we smell when we use scent blockers. Like there was something there, but it was… I don’t know.” He hesitates. “Jeongin is sure she’s an omega, and Jisung thinks so, too. And I know soulmates are supposed to be omegas and alphas, generally. Right?” “So you think if she isn’t an omega, she isn’t your soulmate?” At this, Felix straightens. “No!” he says, loud enough that Seungmin jumps; Felix wrinkles his nose and takes a deep breath. “No,” he says again, “I’m certain she is. I’m sure. I just…”
Since I had this moment early on where I was like, ‘Jeongin and Jisung are both leaning towards omega and Felix is a little less sure,’ PLUS Felix not having a Changbin-in-the-café moment, I thought Felix should probably continue being unsure. And then Seungmin is a bit more... pessimistic?, or maybe like he doesn't want to assume the best case scenario. So since her being an omega would hypothetically make some stuff easier, he's intentionally leaning the other way.
And THEN they live together, and they’re confidantes, and they're already a little unsure, soooo I kind of pictured them having conversations like, “She might not be an omega, it would be fine if she wasn’t, is it putting pressure on her to assume? Should we not assume?”, just two sweet little overthinkers
Han and Lino just went back and forth a lot, but in a much less anxious agonized way than seunglix! I pictured them talking about it every now and then, reaching a conclusion together, and then having that same conversation three days later and reaching the opposite conclusion — and that just being their usual for like, months. How long has it been at this point— 6 months…?? I do think Jisung was probably more preoccupied with it than Minho though hahahaha
Wow, I rambled a lot! I hope this made sense 😊 Thank you for the ask!!!
