I always subscribed to the theory that Sand was some kind of ambitious but terrible attempt to reimagine Dune without the like, icky colonial bits; because that’s the kind of madness I would embark upon.

Apparently, that was giving her too much credit.

On the other hand.

Imagine making a really personal play, about your own struggle to escape from a trap you’re currently in; and thinking that the play’s success will be the thing that frees you.

And then having the play absolutely bomb.
