Hey, remember when Ice Age (2002) had a long, silent, section where our main protagonist, a Woolly Mammoth, had to confront the loss of his family and species through human confrontation and a changing global landscape?
Then to juxtapose that, the movie was centered around him returning a child to a tribe of Homo neanderthalensis despite the fact that they are members of the group of animals actively hunting them down? That the child theyâre saving very likely will become a part of his speciesâ destruction? That every one of the main and background characters are at all-but-certain danger due to their presence in the region? That the species of the child will also disappear into the geological past along with the rest of them?
Remember how poignant and silent the return of the baby was?
Then the rest of the franchise became about nothing in particular and threw all that thought and connection away. Cool. Anyway lol dinosaurs and ice age baby.
