Rombi - Temporary Score: 9
Description: rhombus-shaped ribbons (we love a rhombus! seriously, it was one of the first shapes i learned as a child, and i adore them. this almost fell off the list because i didnt' find it the first few times i searched, but i stubbornly kept at it, and i FOUND IT!)
First Take Points: 2 - this pasta is ticking a lot of boxes, fam! it's short cut so it's not annoying me like long flat pasta, but the ruffly little edges (not well represented in that picture that i can't figure out how to center and enlarge) are great sauce grabbers. i threw this into a winter 3-bean salad, which doesn't have a thick sauce, hence the rather low score, BUT
Remix Bonus Points: 3 - this would go great in any thick and hearty sauce!
Amusement Points: 5 - i truly do love a parallelogram, and a rhombus is just a perfect little parallelogram, so here, have all the points. i suppose if you want to be really mathy and pedantic about it, the ruffly edges change the length of the sides and therefore disqualify it as a true rhombus, but Pasta Points for Trying!
Annoyance Deductions: -1 - also, even without the fluted edges, i'm not entirely convinced that rombi sides are all equal.
Alternative Uses: you know those quilts (i've also seen this in stained glass and mosaics and kids' wooden puzzle blocks) with the star pattern? i want to make that out of rombi.
