“Hey!” Simba called, looking way up at the branch Iago was perched on, “you’re Zazu’s pal, right?”
The lion cub smiled and lifted his tufted tail, flicking the end back and forth. His brown eyes stayed on the feathered animal, but not in a predatory manner; he was actually quite curious about him! “I think it’s you, anyway… he’s talked about a red bird with some blue feathers on his wings b’fore. If it is you, your name’s Iago… I think.”
Simba twitched an ear, blinking expectantly. “Are ya gonna come down here or stay in that tree all day? I’m not gonna hurt you, y’know.”
He paused, smirking. “Zazu’s fun ‘ta pounce on, but I won’t do it to you.”

Eric had to admit, there were many things that were new to him now that his fiance, soon to be wife, had entered his life for good. He could deal with the whole mermaid thing no problem, but it seemed a line was drawn when it came to talking to actually... sea creatures. Maybe the prince would never understand all of them but Ariel had taught him enough so that when he met her friend, and advisor, he would at least hold some sort of conversation.

They're such a wildly successful desert-dwelling species, and there's certainly no shortage of muddy terrain around the river systems that passed through the plains. Maybe it's the relative lack of insect prey? Barroths are mostly ant-eaters, and the only numerous ant species I've seen around here are the leafluggers in the Scarlet Forest: definitely not premier Barroth territory!"
