Fievel finally got the hint to drop his smug little smile, but he didn't scamper just yet. He still had so many questions about this odd, odd man. He eyed the money, uncomprehending, as he ranted.
"I don't know how he did it!" Fievel called to his retreating back, "But I'm not a liar!"
But how did he prove it? And he still had no idea where to find the big-hatted lady and the strange mayor. Sometimes talking to grown-ups was like talking to somebody through a closed window; they only seemed to hear every other word!
"How would you know it's impossible?"
He chuckled, turning back to the little mouse, and glowering down towards him, as much as he detested children and how stupid and deep they seemed to run in their little fibs and lies, he was starting to become a LITTLE amused by him. Even WITH the comment about rats.
"Because those that live DOWN BELOW, do not NEED such things as cats to protect themselves," he explained and arched down to the boy, lifting his gloved hand and gesturing across the boy's body as he explained, making 'gutting' motions.
"They like to pin you down and then they gut you, here and here, making your death slooooow and painful, sometimes, they eat you before you're even dead~" He smirked deathly at the child. If that didn't scare him away, he didn't know what would. "Plus, I do not know you, therefore, you must be lying."
Manny seemed content to let him remain quiet. Not so often you have such an audience, and well, he liked the sound of his own voice.
"Never seen a record player? We went to great lengths to get this one working. Even if something is busted up and broken, you can scavenge the parts from a place like this, and put it all together to make it thrive again. That's rat-hood for you."
The black record spun smoothly.
"Do not be tempted to jump up on the record, though. Many young rats have fallen to that folly."
He stepped right up to the player, eyes wide and watching it spin slowly, the soft music coming out making his ears twitch as it blessed them.
"Is pretty," the little rat said softly, a hand running over the box as he circled it, nose twitching as he picked up the scents and listened to the mechanisms inside cog and turn.
"How... Fix?" He asked curiously, suddenly, he seemed so much more interested.

"Who did this to you?" Mr. Ages ( during an examination or something )
Ratigan froze up when the fingers brushed against the scar over his neck and a cold chill racked his spine. He suddenly whisked himself away from the examination table, quickly throwing his shirt back on and doing up the buttons.
"Its no concern of yours, this check up is over!"
