Summary:

A heat Slade's too old for starts simmering under his skin at the worst possible time--when he's stuck at Titans Tower following a mission, with his well-meaning children trying to decide what's best for him and a pretty young alpha all but throwing himself at him like it's not the worst idea in the world. Slade's survived a lot: growing up as an omega with the bulk to match, his time in the army, three pregnancies, the end of his first marriage, and too many deaths. He should know better than to get involved with Dick Grayson, but the kid's always posed a challenge Slade itches to match.

But. It's also very easy to interpret that through a brudick lens of Bruce realizing that he's in love with a now-adult Dick, except that was his ward and he knew Dick as a child and how can he be, and he pushes him away out of fear and self-loathing. Like I more perceive brudick for fun than actively ship it as something to write and explore, but man those issues are certainly a thing that makes u go hmmmm.

they have SO many issues and so many options for angles to explore said issues with and i am insane about them. like there really isnt an existing relationship to parallel them with because they do So Much all the time.

Dick is a child Bruce swore to protect, but he's also a proxy through which he sees his own child self, but he's also his equal partner who always has his back, but he's also a brother he's gone through so much with, but he's also an almost matriarchal figure who always takes care of him and comes back when he needs him, etc

Bruce is the man who saved Dick, but he's not a replacement for his dad, but he's not /not/ his dad, but he's also the partner he respects and values more than anything, but he's also someone he wants to protect, but he's also the kid who yells at him to leave while clinging to him and not letting go, etc

One single wave separates from the rest and comes out to soak him perfectly and leave seaweed in his hair.

Bruce was standing a few steps away from Dick when it happened - so close, yet not close enough to be able to do anything and stop his son from being stolen by the sea god. Everything happened so fast. One second they were walking along the shore, chatting and just enjoying each other’s company and the other Dick’s feet dipped into the water and it moved, wrapping around his waist and pulling him into the sea.

He saw the look on Dick’s face when the water started moving, the way his eyes widened in shock more than fear. He looked at Bruce, lips parting to plead for help or maybe just to scream, hand outstretched towards his own. Bruce reached for him without thinking, not knowing what would happen after he caught him - would the lord of the seas take him too, would he drown Bruce for trying to get in the way - but their hands never met. They didn’t even brush, being just a few centimeters apart before Dick got pulled into the ocean.

He had no way of even knowing what happened to his boy; would the sea god simply drown him for his entertainment, would he keep him as his plaything?

There was nothing he could do. Nothing but plead to the god to give him his son back.

“He doesn’t belong with you!” Bruce screamed at the ocean, the hum of waves muffling his words. “Give him back!”

For a moment nothing happened. Everything around seemed to quiet down for a few seconds and Bruce held his breath, awaiting the answer.

One of the waves separated from the rest and came out to soak him completely from head to toes, leaving seaweed in his hair.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA this mother fucker.both of them actually. going to give Dick migraines. they are going to make him lose all his hair before he hits 40. and thats if his heart doesnt give out first

Jason tries to crawl through a gap in the wall and gets stuck

Tim: "Oh my god. Oh my god. Are you literally stuck right now. Are we trapped in this cellar by your fat ass. Oh my fucking god."

Jason: "Shut the fuck up and help me get out!"

Pushing doesn't work. Pulling also doesn't work, but it does manage to kinda pull Jason's pants down and make the situation even worse.

Jason: "What are you doing! Put my pants back on!"

Tim: "I don't think I can!"

Jason: "Fuck! How long until someone else gets here?"

Tim: "Well, Bruce and Dick are still [dealing with crisis or fighting rogue of the week], so at least another thirty minutes."

Jason tries to wriggle out of the wall again

Tim: "Can you like. Not do that."

Jason: "What? Why?"

Tim: "You are literally shaking your bare ass in my face and you have to ask me why?"

Jason: "Whose fault is it that my ass is bare? Look somewhere else!"

Tim: "This cellar isn't that big, and I have to make sure the wall doesn't collapse! Just keep still!"

Now that he knows he has a way to annoy Tim, Jason absolutely does not keep still, and they gay chicken each other into having sex while waiting for rescue. Something like that.

For the ship I was actually thinking sladick (how surprising lol) and I started outlining the idea just a bit before I read your ask but your idea is just too good 🤣💕 Now I wanna write this scenario with JayTim, it works for those dumbasses so well lmao
