         not  as  pure  as  the  day  you  landed  on  the  ground ,    yet  smile  shone  almost  as  brightly  as  it  did  the  first  time  you  heard  the  wind  whistle ,   the  first  time  you  crunched  leaves  beneath  feet .      you  had  to  have  hope  now .   for  you  didn’t  know  what  lay  ahead ,  what  new  horrors  it  could  bring .       so  you  remained  optimistic ,  even  with  the  knowledge  that  harder  times  would  be  coming .   gaze  moved  to  meet  his ,   scarred  hand  reaching  out .      ❝      cryo ,   huh  ?   the  ten  years   ---   over  just  like  that ?   ❞

            ❝     i know it’s a hard sell,   but try to  relax  alright  ?     ❞     you’re almost sure your words are about to fall on deaf ears but you try anyway.   a vain attempt to sooth the blatantly obvious nerves in the woman at your side.   this wasn’t going to be easy,   a dead cop  ?    the prosecution was always out for blood in cases like these.    and with how incompetent the rosewood police had proven themselves to be lately,   you know they’ll be trying harder than ever to make these charges stick.     taking your hand in yours,    you wait for her to meet your eyes before you speak again.        ❝      i'm doing everything i can to make sure you stay home with hanna.     ❞       and you were.    everything in your power.  every motion you could think to file was already in progress.    if you could help it she wouldn’t spend a  day  in jail.

“     I’M OKAY.     ”       but the grimace and labored breaths suggest otherwise.      you know what’s happening,   even if you don’t fully understand it.    all you know is that she did this to you,     that she turned you into a monster all thanks to those scratches on your ankles.     you’ve done all you could to keep from going back to fitz,    the way she said you would,     but handling this on your own has proven to be difficult.     you remember nearly killing a man last month,      stopped only by bright headlights suddenly appearing at the end of the darkened street,     stalling you long enough for your humanity to resurface.
