The Rogues have brought their brand of gorgeous, geeky burlesque to New England since 2009. The Independent Film Channel television series Young, Broke & Beautiful featured them as a quintessential Boston experience, right up there with the Sam Adams Brewery. In addition to a monthly residence at the Middlesex Lounge, the troupe has dazzled audiences at Oberon, Club Cafe, ImprovBoston, and private parties and events from Boston to New York City. In 2011, readers of The Boston Phoenix and The Weekly Dig nominated them for "Boston's Best Burlesque Troupe," and Citysearch calls them "one of Boston's top burlesque troupes." They are members of the Boston Circus Guild, the official stripteasers of the Boston Center for Adult Education, and the creators of the wildly popular Lucky 13 Amateur Burlesque Competition.

As a queer person, burlesque has been an amazing medium through which to explore my identity. I am happy, and proud, to be part of a troupe that is so committed to being QUILTBAG friendly in all of our shows and materials. (I'm sure it helps that a number of us identify as queer as well). Digging through the Queerlesque archives yesterday literally made my day. I can't wait to see what is posted next - and hope (upon hope upon hope) that I, or my fellow Rogues, will be able to contribute to their amazing collective soon.
