Honestly, I'll just never get over that all other broken relationships on this show had firm closure and the love interest character never showed up again afterwards, but with Tommy not only he did come back twice, but with clear signs that there were still some feelings there, and yet him and Buck get stuck on this limbo where it could be over for good or it could still be something there, but we'll most likely never know until the show actually tells us... (or gets cancelled).

really want to be hopeful about these last 2 episodes, but i fear that unfollow has had me in the dumps for a while. if we donāt get anything in these last 2 episodes, i think the ākeep your eyes peeledā was about 9-1-1, but perhaps OS asked tim to not have anymore romance for buck this season & thatās why he unfollowed.
kinda upsetting bc eventually tim will have to bite the bullet and progress with buckās love life, so all this baiting will just backfire when eddie ends up with a new girlfriend too.
glad to see lou doing well on such a huge show like the pitt, but part of me is really disappointed with how tommyās story was handled (if thatās really it).
I've already closed, tbh. I know it's taboo to say it nowadays after an episode, and I definitely don't wanna shit on anyone's hopes, but that's just how I feel. I think if they wanted to do something with it, they would've already, or at least they would've left solid crumbs to indicate that that's where they're going. But Tim's priorities were made very clear this season, so I'm not gonna bother expecting anything. And yeah, the unfollow pretty much sealed the deal for me.
Putting the rest under a Read More cause I got ranty:
Personally, I don't think there was anything nefarious behind it or any plans that were cancelled. I think it was simply a case of Lou hasn't been called back until then and since (in my opinion) he and Oliver never really quite became friends outside of the show, he decided to unfollow to distance himself a bit from him and the ship. Not that I think they hate each other or anything. I've always mantained that they just never became friends due to different personality types and the relationship stayed purely professional. (Though I admit I do think OS' weirdness towards Buck's LIs in general and his obvious desire to not get any heat from the fandom played a part in it, however small that part is). In the end it is what it is and you can't do anything about it.
And the 'keep your eyes peeled' thing, again: The original message was in early December. If it was anything related to 911, we would've known by now. Guest stars and recurring characters on network TV shows are warned that they're needed just a couple of weeks before they actually film, maybe a month depending on the scope of the scene. With the benefit of hindsight, it's more than clear that he was talking about keeping our eyes peeled in general for his next moves in his career rather than specifically about 911. He had already filmed his role in The Pitt by then, so I'm confident in assuming he was talking about that.
People in the BT fandom need to remind themselves that just like conventions, Cameo is a tool for actors to supplement their income in exchange for fan interactions, so obviously he's never gonna say anything that can be taken seriously one way or another. Putting too much weight in what goes on there is setting yourself up for disappointment.
So that's how I feel. To me Tommy is suffering the same fate as Shannon: He was dropped because Tim still cares way too much about what the fandom has to say, and he'd rather keep them happy and giving online engagement to the show. But in this case it's almost worse cause at least Shannon had definitive closure with her death, but we get stuck in this limbo at least until Tim makes it clear that's it's over by giving Buck a new LI.
So yeah, I'm washing my hands off of it. Call me a doomer or whatever, and if somehow I'm wrong and he does end up appearing this season, ya'll can crash out on my inbox with all the "I Told You So!"s in the world.
And I'm also with you, Anon. I'll keep rooting for Lou to get bigger and better roles so he can get the recognition he deserves.
Season 8 ending with a Buckley having an oopsie baby and season 9 ending with a Buckley having an oopsie baby. How original, Timothy! LMAO.
I'm not even mad at this, tbh. I figured Tommy wasn't coming back when Buck was mooning over his one nighters. And frankly, I agree with the take that LFJ is dodging a bullet not being asked back. He got to be a part of what was originally a pretty nice storyline and got a good send off as well. If they brought Tommy back now, they'd just ruin him. I'd rather think that Tommy found his people and found someone who actually did love him and fought for him.
You know it's bad when they start ripping off themselves lmao.
I personally don't think there was a good send off at all for Tommy. But by now it is a symptom of the overall writing quality going downhill. I'm pretty sure Lou liked being on the show regardless of the fandom, and he would be back if he's asked, but after all the shit he got put through with this fandom, I do wish he gets better opportunities.
There was an interview last year where Oliver wanted to explore the donor baby storyline again. Since heās the male lead now he gets a say in what his storylines are. He got lbf and now he getting donor baby storyline. Seems like that unfollow really meant something. I was hopeful but doesnāt seem like Tommy will be back. Looks like Oliver doesnāt want to continue the relationship with Tommy. They really going to fumble this if true. Like the worst case scenario, this is what Tim mention he was going to introduce in last episodes and continue to explore in s10 and the baby and Kameron is going to be Buckās storyline if Connor is gone from the picture. Iām just so tired of being constantly disappointed. Guess Iām moving on once s9 is over.
Is there a past storyline from older seasons that you would like to see further explored in the future, if you could bring it back and go deeper with your character?
This is probably an unpopular answer, maybe it would be cool to check in on the sperm donor baby, see if thereās anything to explore there in terms of, oh, do I feel a connection to that child? Which I donāt think he would necessarily, but I donāt write the show. So maybe there is, maybe thereās something there, I donāt know.
At this point I just expect the worst with this show, but this would truly be an incredibly stupid decision if they suddenly want Buck to be on this kid's life full time. It would be such a mudled message on so many issues:
Unconventional methods of reproduction/IVF can't lead to happy families. Only blood and DNA matters.
Buck gets out of his first queer relationship but now since he's the male lead of the show, he can't date men and is automatically thrust upon a traditional heterosexual family structure.
A kid/family is a reward for overcoming addiction.
I really really really really really hope it doesn't come to that.
if oliver isnāt keen for buck to be in a relationship, giving him a child to raise alone would be the perfect way for them to just stall completely on buckās love life & shift his focus to āoh i need to care and put all my efforts towards this kidā.
i just get this impression bc oliver kinda implied it with his interviews at the beginning of s9. like i know he changed his tune slightly after the bachelor auction, but i do think tim took into account his idea of wanting buck to ābe freeā & thatās why his plots towards the end of the season arenāt romance-centred. i think some of it is just oliver knowing whatever relationship buck is in wonāt be accepted by the majority of his fans & not wanting to upset them, but i do wish he spoke out against how his love interests have been treated.
my issue is that itās such an integral part of buckās character to be in a happy relationship & to āmake itā. forcing a child onto him just adds to this repeated theme of buck having 0 agency & not being allowed to make his own decisions. with how awkwardly BT was left with seemingly no follow up (no payoff after tommy seeing buck mourn alone in 8x15 or the mentions in 9x07?), i just have 0 expectations with buckās love life & theyāll probably just do a natalia 2.0 when they get confirmed for cancellation.
Yup, that's my opinion as well. A combination of Oliver not liking Buck's relationship storylines overshadowing his character + Tim's inability of writing a compelling longterm LI and commiting to it before getting bored. He hit gold with Tommy, which was almost all by coincidence, and then threw it away. He's gonna keep using the excuse of not wanting to pair up his characters with random people and that he prefers couples with estabilished characters, and now with the baby, it's the perfect excuse to not have to bother with writing a new LI, at least for the time being.
Even if it's a temporary situation, this will clearly be Buck's main storyline in S10. They're gonna morph him into Dad Buck⢠and that will be his schtick now. Let's see if they can mine this storyline for more than one season, knowing Tim lol
I know I'm not gonna waste my time watching, so ya'll are gonna have to tell me.

corinne followed kameronās actor. tim minear you are deeply unserious š š
heās doing anything he can think of to delay buckās love life just so he can keep baiting those fans. and i wouldnāt be surprised if oliver knew buck wasnāt going to be in a long term relationship, and thatās why he was down for all the conventions.
if we never see tommy again, the way his story was handled will never sit right with me. you make it repeatedly known heās searching for a family, connect his life even closer to buckās by making him the tommy abby talks about in s1 (& we never get to hear his pov behind his near-marriage with abby), have him show up no-questions-asked for the 118 only whenever they need a pilot, and then⦠leave his story as one big question mark? how did gerrard end up with a better ending š??
I just saw that š And the fact that it's only Kameron's actress and not Connor's...
I'm now deeply posessed by a dreadful fear that Tim might actually be crazy enough to have killed Connor offscreen or divorced them and set up Buck and Kameron actually getting together and raising that child š
I am praying to every force in the universe that this doesn't happen and the rumour that ends up being true is that the kid has leukemia and Buck helps treat them.
But with the way this show has treated Buck's queer journey ever since the break up, it would be right up their alley: Break up a perfectly happy queer relationship and have the bi guy suddenly acquire a wife and a kid to finally be happy lmao
Yes, for me the unfollow discarded 95% of my hopes.
Personally, I don't think the "unfollowed him to avoid being harassed" is a thing, especially after two years. Maybe after everything that's happened these past few months, he's not interested, or somehow he knows they wouldn't bribg Tommy back.
So, since then, I'm just meh, to be honest.
Yeah, this argument never made sense to me. He stayed following OS for two years without getting followed back, and almost a whole year after he was last seen on the show. Why would he care about "protecting his peace" now?
I think he was very much like "it doesn't seem like I'm getting a callback so I guess I don't have to worry about this guy and his crazy fans anymore".
"we're supposed to be the ones with media literacy"
Can we maybe just enjoy being in the fandom?? There are some bucktommy fans who still think Tommy will come back and that's ok
You can do whatever you want, I just don't know what fun is there in either cheering so hard or dooming so much over something that is obviously never happening š¤·š»āāļø
