Over to Woods Hole to visit old and dear friends from Rockridge Clinic in Oakland. If you have ever watched the series New Amsterdam, that was us, an idealistic group of doctors, midwives, nurse practitioners. We cared for inner city poor folks and Berkeley folks. Don Quijote fighting the good fight. The best group I ever worked with.

Allen was the administrator. Sala one of the midwives who augmented the training I’d had with men teaching me about women’s bodies. Amenta was a teen back then and now is beautiful, a martial artist at 50. Tirian had become a lawyer, head of Berkeley law school? Then to Stanford where a problem arose about race I think. I am so proud of them all🌀🌀🌀

The composting toilet was just the best I have ever seen.

My friend wanted to have lunch here and the reviews were very positive. Yimm is the upscale sister restaurant to Imm Thai Street Food in Berkeley. Yimm specializes in homestyle Thai food, what they say Thai restaurant cooks eat themselves. The menu includes salads, small plates, soups, omelet rice, wok noodles, noodle soup, rice plates, desserts, and drinks.

There was one woman working the front of the house, taking orders, during lunch and they were packed. The sign on the table outside said they were understaffed, so we looked at the menu online, placed our order and waited. The online menu said no substitutions. The food didn’t take as long as we expected (the website said the wait time was 45 minutes).

Duck noodles soup ($18): thin egg noodles, roasted duck, cilantro, green onions, bean sprouts, spinach, fried garlic in a deep flavor broth. I didn’t see an option to make it spicy. The noodle soup looked nice and they provided lots of thin egg noodles and lots of broth. There was a decent amount of roast duck and not too many bones. The roasted duck was too salty though and the broth, while interesting with lots of spices (star anise?) and a hint of sweetness, was not spicy at all. No condiments were provided. Maybe you have to ask??

What kind of Thai restaurant doesn’t provide condiments (e.g., hot sauce, jalapenos)?? My friend’s green papaya salad looked nice and big with large shrimp on top.

Most of the seating is inside but there are four tables outside.
