Sadly, I missed The Saddest Angriest Black Girl in Town the first time it was published. So when I heard the news that @BlackJoseiPress was reprinting the black and white autobio comic by @RoBroSmo I had to have it so I backed the kickstarter campaign for sure! . . Featuring a gorgeous new watercolor cover and bonus process pages, the saddest angriest black girl in town is a comic that hits hard on the inspection of mental health and Blackness. 32 pages that delve into taking up space as Black and as woman. About navigating a mostly white space, the illusion of safety and the rage and sorrows that come with living in skin that makes you aware of it. . . It is a recommended read for those who love comics about who love auto-biographical comics, comics by Black women and brave works that tackle issues of mental health. After reading and reading I feel seen, acknowledged and loved in the way I only feel from the work of Black women. There’s always a heavy weight on my heart as I navigate this world, this country, online spaces in my own skin (some days are easier than others) --having the previously out of print comic ‘the saddest angriest black girl in town’ alleviates some of that. Thank you @RoBroSmo for this work. And big thank you @jamilarowser for your work to Black and Brown women in the comic world. I am always going to be a fan of such stories and of @BlackJoseiPress . . . #theaddestangriestblackgirlintown #blackjoseipress #robynsmith #comicsofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CRPf-JuMxE8/?utm_medium=tumblr
