Mastery Journal: Reputation Management Strategies
September was a challenging month that involved a course titled Reputation Management Strategies that was taught by Professor Dr Tom Vizcarrondo. Dr V did his very best to explain every assignment and elaborate on information that may have been vital to the completion of our assignment. I must admit that I did not take full advantage of his willingness, however I constantly reviewed the information and knowledge provided, for my benefit.
The work we completed in this course required us to be attentive, careful, and diligent when approaching our work. This course really highlighted the importance of crises and crisis management. We conducted an evaluation of our own clients that were based on reputation management. Out of all the assignments we’ve done my favorite assignment was the online reputation assessment. This assignment required us to do research of our client and find out what others are saying about them. Analyzing others opinions about my client was engaging. Looking at the opinions of others from the potentially most influential search engines and social sites that featured my client.
The topics covered this month will all be relevant and helpful to my public relation career. The topic that I believe will be most helpful to my journey as a public relations professional is crisis communications. This assignment gave me the ability to create a crisis communication plan with data and instructions for every member of the team in preparation of a crisis. The knowledge acquired this month will assist me when working side by side with other professionals. It will give me leadership, confidence, and experience, particularly with professionals who may not have experience or knowledge about crisis management or reputation management.
