So here it goes, my first ever Robron fic. Set in about 2019 and letâs pretend Robert never went to prison and broke everyoneâs hearts.
âPlease Robert! Give me one good reason why we canâtâ Aaron exclaimed at the older man.
âBecause I said soâ Robert smiled back which earnt a gentle nudge on the shoulder from Aaron.
All Aaron wanted was a puppy. Heâd been trying to talk Robert into it for weeks, but he just wasnât budging. He didnât see why not; in fact, he thought it would be a great idea. They werenât any closer to having children because it cost an absolute fortune, so he thought a puppy would be the better way to start their own little family.
However, Robert had his reservations and for good reason. When it came to household responsibilities Aaron was not exactly the most reliable person. In fact, he was useless at it. Robert only had to mention the hoover incident of 2018 and Aaron would see red, much to Robertâs amusement. He wasnât going to deny it though, Robert did kind of want one to, but he was having way too much fun watching his husband practically beg for one.
Another week went by, but Aaron hadnât mentioned the P word. He had decided to take matters into his own hands. He was fed up with putting on the âperfectâ husband act to win Rob over, it clearly wasnât working so why not just go for it. Who said Robert had to agree anyway? It was his house and is money too so why not. He couldnât exactly say no once the thing was in the house anyway, could he?
Two days later Aaron made some rubbish excuse about a pickup in Leeds and left to put his plan into action. After many messages to and from several breeders he had found a puppy that he thought would be a perfect fit for them. They only problem was how to pay for it without Robert noticing it leaving the joint account. Yes, he could pay for it himself, but he wanted it to be their puppy not just his. If he paid for it himself, he knew exactly what his husband would say when the little four-legged poop machine needed cleaning up after. âYou brought it; you clean up after itâ. And the smug smile to go with it. Thatâs where Liv came into it.
After much deliberation Liv agreed to let her brother borrow the money from her account. After all she was kinda looking forward to having a dog in the house. However, she had made a deal that Aaron could borrow the money, pay it back in FULL within 24 hours and never, NEVER ask her to pick up after it or be in any way responsible for it. One he agreed to the silly terms Aaron was on his way to collect their new family member.
He knew Robert had a late meeting with a new client so there was plenty of time to get back home and set up everything before he got back. The tiny puppy was curled up in Aaronâs lap when he heard Robert pull up outside. Walking in grumbling to himself about the meeting being a complete waste of time as he took his jacket off and kicked his shoes across the floor. âIf I have to speak to that woman one more time Iâm going to screâŠwhatâs that?!â The blonde stopped in his tracks when his gaze fell on the tiny ball of fluff on his husbandâs lap. âMeet Daveâ Aaron grinned. He thought naming the puppy something âhumanâ would be funny but looking at the unamused expression on his husbands face right now maybe he was wrong. âAaronâ Robert sighed. âWe canât have a puppy I told you that so many times. And we definitely canât have one called Dave!â Robert almost chuckled at the ridiculousness of the name. âWhy not? Please Rob look at his little faceâ Aaron picked the tiny pup up and walked towards his husband. He caved way too quick for his liking but Robert found himself agreeing to keep the puppy. How could he not when he had two sets of puppy dog eyes looking at him and one tiny little tongue licking him on the chin.
A few hours later they were both laying on the rug in the living room playing a game of tug of war with the new member of the family. âDo we have to keep the name Dave?â Robert chuckled as he pulled the toy around in front of Daveâs fluffy little paws. âWhatâs wrong with it?â Aaron frowned. âMakes him seem toughâ The younger man laughed. âSo, your fine with shouting Dave across the fields in front of other people?â Robert got up onto his feet admitting defeat against the miniature velociraptor. âHis name is Dave, end of Robâ
That night both men were just getting into bed ready for some well-earned rest when it started. The whining. Â No one said the first night would be easy but Robert was not prepared for the noise. After countless trips up and down the death stairs Aaron had given up and brought the pup up to the bedroom. âUmm not happeningâ Robert huffed as he sat up in bed, leaning over and turning the light on. âIâm only just getting use to the idea of this dog youâre not bringing him into our bed as wellâ The older man shifted pulling the duvet up over his bare chest. âFine Iâll get my pillow and go thenâ Aaron grumbled. âYour daddy Robert needs his beauty sleep Dave, looks like itâs the sofa for me and youâ Aaron spoke softly to the pup as he left the room with his pillow under one arm and Dave under the other.
Three weeks later, the scrapyard was busy. Way too busy for Aarons liking but he couldnât complain he was making a mint. The only downside was he didnât get to spend much time at home with Robert and the newest addition Dave. It was 8 by the time he got home one night and he wasnât happy about it and neither was Robert. Dave had been running rings around him all evening, peeing on the table legs and chewing literally anything and everything he could get hold of. By the text messages Aaron had received it wouldnât be long before Robert would be taking the poor little pup back to where he came from. Just as he was making his way into the kitchen, he was stopped by the sight on the sofa in front of him. Robert was curled up on his side head resting on a pile of Daves blankets and toys. With Dave being the little spoon nestled into his husbandâs arms. He quickly pulled out his phone and took a picture; it was way too cute not to.
Eventually things settled down and Robert started to enjoy having the company of Dave in the flat. He found himself talking away to him when they were on their own and Aaron quickly realized Dave had bonded to his husband more than him. âYou know he likes you more than meâ Aaron smiled at the two of them cuddled up in the sofa one night. âI canât help it Iâm just so loveableâ Robert winked whilst snuggling in with his new best friend. âMaybe we should get him a friend so I can have my husband back?â The younger man joked. Robert looked at him in shock âNot a bloody chance!â.
