So in the 1989 novel Hyperion by Dan Simmons, there is this character, Kassad, who is a space soldier. He meets this misterious girl inside a training simulation, and the two of them fall in love and have sex.
Through the coming years, Kassads encounters this girl many times in his dreams and in simulations and things like that, and finally, he crash lands on a planet with some Space Time FuckeryTM happening, and meets this girl who is in love with finally in real life. Together they kill a bunch of space pirates and then, caught in a storm of bloodlust and regular lust, have sex there among the corpses and blood and wrecked vehicles.
Last second before he reaches climax, the true nature of the woman is shown, revealing she is kind of a robot, or a metal construct of some kind, with all blades and edges and shit. Kassad, with horror, flees away, scared and nauseated of what the girl truly is, and flees the planet making and oath to return and kill the girl/robot/metal thing in revenge.
And its so funny to read this story as a person who spends a Sizable Amount of Time here in tumblr, because I see the ever thriving community of lovers of robot girls, metal girls, virtual girls, construct girls, etc etc, and I find it so funny that this horror tale, written by Dan Simmons as a scary and unsetting story, is actually the fantasy of so many people here.
To think that so many of the people here will read that and not react with the intended fear and horror but yelling to the book "Kassad you absolute COWARD AND FOOL!" And thinking "Its should have been ME!!! Not HIM!"
Idk I just find it funny.
