Roblox is planning to use AI age estimation to limit chat to certain age groups. If you do not submit your face you will be unable to chat at all.
This is bad because:
Most games on the platform encourage communication, ESPECIALLY roleplay games, and given most kids will probably just not wanna bother, those games will die out.
Some kids might seek out alternatives like discord and whatsapp, leading to more dangerous situations that this is allegedly TRYING to prevent
AI is hilariously inaccurate, so many people will get sorted incorrectly

as of today, it has been 0 days since roblox removed chat for a majority of users.

I genuinely wish my generation cared enough to boycott. In example, this new roblox chat thing? Can be fixed with boycotting! Dont play it, and eventually they'll realize why their playerbase is going down suddenly and fix it.

That chat blocking update just rolled out for me on Roblox. Can't talk to my fucking partner (3 yr difference, we're both adults, and he rightfully refuses to grant age data to them). 'Powering imagination', the only thing you're imagining is a disconnected world where safe adults are separated from kids who are lumped together with preds.
When I saw a video talking about the next game developers won't be on Roblox, this is it right here. Youve lost our trust, went out of our way to damage our community, for what? Extra money? How are you profiting off of this, hm?
