I'm with the crowd who thinks it'd have been more consistent to have Jonathan, a character who was established to be into music since s1, work at the WSQK. I mean, if sto/bin was going to be separated/not in the same group for most of s5 anyway, why wouldn't they have Jonathan and Robin co-host the Squawk during the last 18 months —or for however long?
I think I'd have been a great oportunity for both Robin to widen her perspective on Jonathan beyond whatever image $teve (intentionally or unintentionally, same difference) painted of him and thus better understand and support who I assume is now her best galpal (cough and actually cosign her boundaries much more sternly via not longer being biased "towards one or the other 'neanderthal' guy" cough), and for Jonathan to also organically befriend somebody who's also become important to Nancy after not risking to open up for friendship that much after Barb (and Fred).
And we all know the drill: francophile alt kids bonding, different neurotype solidarity (both of them should get to interact with people with a very contrasting neurotype, for their own sakes'), and the most immaculate curation of music Hawkins could ever aspire to.
and yk, love to see characters bonding with and appreciating Jonathan, famously the only character in the main cast who doesn't have any platonic buddies of his own this season except for... who, Murray??
we could've had it all.
