They’d be THE nepo babies of France, all with patriotic revolutionary names of course. Charlotte is the best aunty ever and is ecstatic to be one. They probably hire her on as a nanny. The kids r sent away to be raised by whatever relatives r around until things calm down. They’d send them gifts and letters all the time. Maxime would write them and Danton would take them to send and secretly write footnotes at the end poking fun at him or smth else silly. Robespirre’s quite funny when he wants to be but he’s not crude and kids love fart jokes and whatever so Danton was the funny one.

Robespirre’s the strict one, he would run a tight ship, he’d take on the task of directing most of their education, And down to what everyone ate. Danton would obviously sneak the kids sweets “here’s some Deniers, go get yourself some ice cream I’ll distract him, oh and grab me some wine! I’m dying!” despite this Danton would be the one the kids were truly afraid of. Robespirre would be all about gentle parenting and never raised his voice. The fact he worked so hard and did so much and was often unwell meant that the kids were well behaved for him, if they weren’t it was Danton to tell them off. He scared the shit out of them once when Robespirre was unwell, yelling at them to “shut the fuck up, your fathers trying to sleep” he wouldn’t fuck around when it came to Maxime. They could get away with practically anything but the moment they were too much for Maxime that’s when they’d actually face any real consequences.

Now I don’t see WHY on earth they’d ever have kids in the first place. If we’re talking a sex/gender bending universe here in which bio kids were possible. It would have been a mistake. Either during their honeymoon phase or when their relationship started to break down. (Hate/makeup sex) and I think that whole experience would most likely bring Maxi to the brink of death which would freak Danton tf out.

Now revolution. And Dantons involvement with the joint stock company and being a generally sleazy pig. In this scenario I highly doubt Robespirre would have been allowed to stay on the committee. When they can’t convince him to attack Danton (maybe he would have if they didn’t have a family, as dysfunctional as it was) they deem him compromised. Maxime would keep a lot of the committees plans a secret from Danton, scared he’d do something brash. He didn’t want Danton to cause some sort of uprising against the committee or get himself killed . This is probably the point where I’d guess they’d split. Robespirre can only compromise his morals so much. But here obviously keeping Danton safe is a high priority. If not for him for their kids. If Robespirre died Danton could probably handle it. If Danton died it would be catastrophe. So Robespirre would be sitting in the convention. Probably at a distance from Danton. And just praying to god he’d be alright. At this point he needed them both to survive this. He’d eventually snap and beg Danton to leave Paris along with anyone else who liked him even just a little. But Danton is a stubborn mule and I doubt his fate would be averted. Past that point? Robespirre would jump right back into it. He’d probably be even MORE consumed by the revolution. He had kids to fight for now. But his self preservation skills might have been stronger.more willing to compromise if it meant keeping himself alive for his kids. (However he definitely felt somewhat murderous towards a few for killing his ex husband, no matter how much he despised the man for what he did and the fact if it weren’t for the kids he’d probably of done the same thing he still CARED even LOVED the man once and you can’t undo that)

If we’re talking idealistic world, the revolution is just peachy. I still think Danton and Robespierre wouldn’t last, kids or no. Although I can see them splitting yet staying together to keep up appearances and providing a relatively stable home for their family. At least until they all left home which I mean back then was basically at 15 to go study. They could put up with eachother until then. Just imagining a bitter sweet romcom from the kids perspective of them trying to get their parents to fall in love again. Forging love letters and buying them theatre tickets and spying on them to see how it goes. They probably convince Danton he can win Maxime back but most likely it’s simply too late and was doomed from the beginning.
