"SPENSER: FOR HIRE" - AVERY BROOKS
"Spenser: For Hire" was an ABC TV series that ran for three seasons from 1985 through 1988.
The series starred the late Robert Urich as Spenser; Avery Brooks as Hawk; Barbara Stock as Susan Silverman; the late Richard Jaekel as Lt. Martin Quinn; the late Ron McClarty as Sgt. Frank Belson.
The TV series was based on the Spenser novel series by the late Robert B. Parker. Parker wrote 38 Spenser novels before his death, and 11 more novels have been written posthumously by other authors since his death.
There were also four made-for-tv movies released on ABC, between 1993 and 1995.
Avery Brooks was fantastic as Hawk. His performance added new layers to the character that Robert B. Parker created.
