#roasted figs

These Roquefort Roasted Figs make a simple yet elegant savoury, or a delicious autumnal mid-afternoon treat, especially when paired with a glass of good Port!

Ingredients (serves 1):

2 beautiful, just ripe figs, gently rinsed

1 teaspoon olive oil

30 grams/1 ounce Roquefort (or any other favourite blue cheese)

1 teaspoon pure clear honey (something fragrant like heather or Provence flowers)

Preheat oven to 200°C/395°F.

With a sharp knife, cut the figs as if to make quarters, but stopping mid-way so they hold their shape.

Place figs onto a small oven tin, and drizzle with olive oil, rubbing them gently.

Stuff the figs with Roquefort, and place the tin in the middle of the hot oven. Roast, at 200°C/395°F, 10 minutes.

Remove from the oven, and immediately drizzle with honey.

Enjoy Roquefort Roasted Figs immediately, with a small glass of Port, if you fancy.
