Ok, so I think we really under-appreciate road workers anyway, like when we see them its just like “ugh stupid road works” or “I hate traffic” but like no one ever thinks wow, what amazing road workers, like the’re out in the sun, rain, thunderstorm at night, making better roads for us. But anyway after I saw this, they r my heroes. So there was this poor little bird in the middle of the street with a broken looking wing and it was getting repetitively hit and was trying to doge the cars while getting to safety (obviously not getting anywhere). And then this road-worker who was just doing his job on the side of the road, runs in between the traffic cups his hand carefully around this tiny bird and graciously cradles it back to the foot path where he gently put it under a tree. It recovered soon after and flew off, all due to this guy, so props to you random lovely road-worker.

Watch out, its the watcher! This is Čumil, meaning "watcher"in slovak, and the main figure in the art installation "Man at work". After the statue had lost his head by unattentive cardrivers, he even got his own warning tradffic sign. Čumil the Peeper is made by bratislav artist Viktor Hulík in 1997. It is part of several statues raused in the year after independecy in the newly founded Slovak Republic. It is a man looking out at the world from a manhole, and for those seeking "meaning", there are several. He has just finish some dirty sewer work, he is looking under ladies skirts, he is symbolising the ineffectivenes of public workers in the former regime, or simply having a happy break. Čumil is of course a popular sight and target for photos, and touching his head and make a secret wish will make the wish come true.
