The Tragically Hip - Road Apples Here we are, at the final of my Hip albums. After this we have theres one Gord album I haven't posted and the Gord albums being pressed in December then who knows what else. No particular reason why I saved Road Apples for last but it does contain the track Long Time Running, one of the Hips best ballads and the title of the great documentary following their final tour. I find Hip albums to loosely fit in trilogies, Road Apples being their second full length bridges the transition from bars to stadiums. You have all the big bar rock hits like Twist My Arm and Little Bones along with the more introspective lyrical tracks like Long Time Running, Last of the Unplucked Gems and Fiddlers Green. Sorry if I've been a bit self indulgent with these posts (there's still more on the way!) but it's just my small way of paying tribute to one of my biggest influences. Not just creatively but even in the way I speak and act has been influenced by watching hours of interviews with Gord. I've been in a Hip cover band, I was interviewed on the news as a "Hip Fan." The Hip is in my DNA and I'll be spinning these albums for years to come.
