arin   * freezes   in   their   tracks.   their   first   answer   is   to   stammer,   to   declare   then   and   there   that   of   * course   not,   they'd   never   follow   rogue!   they   weren't,   honest!   it's   hard   for   them   to   explain,   really   -   whilst   arin   truthfully   hadn't   been   following   her,   they   couldn't   deny   that   it   definitely   * looked   like   it.

arin   wouldn't   lie   and   say   they   hadn't   * recognized   her,   either   -   any   member   of   the   x-men   in   the   streets   of   new   york   would   guarantee   a   small   crowd   of   people   following   them   around;   pocket   knew   that   she   was   probably   on   edge   because   of   it.   maybe   this   would   be   their   in   -   there   was,   after   all,   a   question   they   had.   a   * dumb   one,   of   course,   but   still   a   question.

would you like some company, sugah?

dick looks up at the sound of that unmistakable accent, smiling when he sees @ro9ue lingering in the doorway. he was prone to getting lost in thought often, a side effect from being raised by bruce, and that also mean that he usually did his contemplating alone. he didn't even mean to wander off to ponder alone, but he wasn't so much like his father that he would deny some company, especially some company as good as anna-marie's. too many people were afraid or shunned her for her powers, but dick never once cared about that. she'd brought nothing but warmth and comfort wherever she went, and he'd find very few companions that could hold company as good as hers.

❝ i'd love some company, thanks. ❞ he offers her a warm smile, patting the couch cushion next to his. he's not entirely sure if she was about to start up a conversation or just let the silence ride out in pleasant company, but he wouldn't be adverse to filling the air with chatter.
