the idea that it ever unanimously “makes sense” to have a straight couple in media is a privilege of heteronormativity anyway, so the differentiation from “need” doesn’t have much weight here, imo.

well what’s happening there is sort interesting because it’s like a confusion between the idea of compulsory romance and compulsory heterosexuality and I think this is related to the idea of a story being “forced” and the way most people don’t understand what that quality is actually describing (violation of the suspension of disbelief, broadly)

it’s not equal at all to have the expectation that you’ll stifle your feelings on the matter. you’re the only one who was wronged here. like, what convenient negotiating is this???

it’d be one thing to say “hey would you mind taking that post down? I don’t like seeing my name up there like that” and I’d say “yeah I totally get for Some Strange Reason lemme do that”

“how can you say there is no queer representation?” because there literally isn’t, susan, and acting like they deserve credit for something that hasn’t happened and that they aren’t posturing for outside of basically a political cartoon and interviews is stupid.

it’s amazing how much credit straight creators get when they dangle the possibility of queer representation in front of us
