Thanks for starting the discussion on this scene. I know I’m joining in late, and I’m probably repeating what others have pointed out, but anyway let me join the fun.

As most readers, I was at first surprised to see how fast Doumeki beats up the guys after breaking in. Douemiki even looks like a Titan in Shingeki no Kyojin! Sensei mentioned before that she isn’t good at drawing action like Shonen Mangas, but I think she is expressing the heavy knock-out blow very well.

Sugimoto and Yashiro’s surprised face shows that they haven’t seen this side of him. After that, Yashiro’s intent gaze is difficult to read. Perhaps he is trying to read Doumeki’s mind, or to figure out the change in him. I think this leads to the conversation about Doumeki wanting to be his “arms and legs”.

Actually, I wasn’t surprised about Doumeki’s violent side. After all he was imprisoned for 4 years. I think he was a well behaved prisoner, and considering that his sister did not know about the release, I think he was released before the term. I don’t know much about prison terms, but if he was sentenced for more than 4 years, his father must have been seriously injured. So when Doumeki said “I regretted many times, that I should have killed him” he was very close to doing so. (Of course his terms were long since he did not disclose about the rape, and probably just said he got in a fight with his father.) Setting aside his feelings for his sister(I am suspecting he was suppressing his love), all this shows a hidden side of him. I still don’t think he likes using violence, but rather, doesn’t hesitate to use if for protecting something important.

As for Yashiro, I think he is beginning to realize that he has triggered the change in  Doumeki. That he is serious about doing anything to stay beside Yashiro. That Doumeki will kill… and die for Yashiro if he had to.

We don’t want the big guy to kill or die, and I don’t think Yashiro wants to either. Maybe he is feeling responsibility of having Doumeki’s life in his hands. But all this is still related to doing his job as a body guard. I hope Yashiro will eventually realize, that he is what Doumeki most values in life. As already being pointed out, Doumeki thinks everything about Yashiro is beautiful. He said to Nanahara “ I want to be useful to him. There nothing in this world that is more important, now.” If this unconditional dedication isn’t love, I wonder what is. 

Yashiro already knows Doumeki thinks he is “Kind, strong, and beautiful”. Doumeki did not deny when Nanahara said “Who would fall in love with such a hard core guy?”. I think Doumeki realized his feeling when Yashiro was shot. When Yashiro understand Doumeki’s love for him, he will have a choice of ignoring, refusing, or accepting. We hope he will make the right choice of accepting what he has been giving up all his life. To be loved unconditionally.

Thanks again, nevergiveupondreamsfan. Something that was stuck in my mind seemed to have flowed over. So this sums up how I think of Doumeki’s love to Yashiro!!

I'm just happy!". Of course, that's my personal and moot opinion! :)

Hi! (: Oh dear Anon … I think Yashiro’s first name will always be a mistery for us! Yoneda Sensei actually knows how to name him, buuuuut  she’ll never let us discover it!! I remember this question coming up few months ago and here there’s the answer/evidence from rlttc (who always keeps us updated and kindly translates yoneco quotes! ^^)

Hi there! I want to know Yashiro’s first name too, but chances are, we’ll never know. Here’s some quotes on this topic from Yonda Sensei. 

Feb 2013 “I feel uneasy to make characters call each other by first names. I feel MOE to think a couple being together for a long time, but still call each other by their last names.”

April 2013 “I have thought of Yashiro’s first name, but it seems too late, so maybe it will not come out til the end”
