sure, he himself got to see the stage from an mc's point of view before, but back then he was merely a trainee who had been lucky enough to be assigned as co-host next to another trainee. now that they were revealed and introduced to the world as idols, it was a whole different thing. actually he wasn't the closest to shion, maybe it was the age difference which made it way easier for him to interact with one of the other "hyungs", but as he wanted things to be well for all of them, kang joon wanted to change their relationship. he wanted to get closer to everyone, no matter how old they were or what kind of indifferences they had during their training time. they were now a group, but he wanted to be more than just colleagues. if they wanted to strive for a better and more successful future, if they wanted more recognition, they needed to become a team.

“thank you for the hard work!” seonho is energetically thanking the staff they worked with for this show recording, bowing to almost everyone as he goes. how the teen still has so much energy is really honestly unknown-- especially considering they just finished filming a show. enough takes being made that it had gone on for a few hours. but the teen moved on like nothing had happened. happy as can be. 

“jihoon hyung!” he cheers as he finishes his rounds and finds himself near the older male, shion as he is called during recording-- shion hyung, of course-- just like seonho was called a.c the whole time. though as the youngest, he is merely a.c unlike all his hyungs who are their stagename and the added honorific. the teen is smiling ear to ear as his arms come to latch around the olders shoulders. “you did really good today, too, hyung!” he turns his thanks onto jihoon, hyping his hyung up for the work he put into the recording.

there's so much work to be done that minho's both thankful for it and exhausted from it. he feels like pure, hardened cement on his bed, with the blanket tugged over his body and up until his nose, scrolling through notifications on his phone boredly. he can feel the heavy weight on his eyes, a tell-tale that he should sleep, but he wants to fight it a bit longer. his grams had mentioned she would send him updates on nala, and minho's been eagerly awaiting them all week. he doesn't want to nag his grandmother for them, still worried over her health, so he ends up staying up later than he needs in hopes to see his precious fur baby.

he almost misses it in a slow blink, the notification popping down on his screen quickly, but he sees the video attachment clear as day, and he can't help but let out a (rather dramatic, but absolutely necessary) gasp as he fumbles to open the message.

it's a cute video of nala batting around what looks to be a shoelace. it's not often that nala likes to play with toys, the cat more fond of knocking over things and then purring and pawing at your face for attention. it's even less rare for nala to be focused on a toy long enough for someone to video record it-- and minho's so fond. he lets out a coo, laughing to himself as he restarts the video to watch it again.

200731 |   he hadn’t planned to stay long, necessarily, because their manager recommended against it and comeback preparations are in full swing. but jinwook thrives in the summer heat, so he never really stood a chance. he’s surrounded by fun performances, familiar shouting from the pool, and old and new friends alike. by now the sun has long passed the high point in the sky. he checks his phone as he heads to the restroom, wanting to wash some sticky spilled punch from his hands, and sees how many hours have passed already without him realizing. it’s the most relaxed he’s felt in days or weeks though, and in the moment he thinks it’s worth the reprimands that might be waiting at the dorm tonight.

there’s a little smile sitting on his face, the epitome of zen, until he opens the bathroom door and trips on the body crouched just inside of it. “oh, i’m so sorry—!” he says immediately, hopping on one foot to catch his balance. “i wasn’t paying attention... are you okay?” mortified, jinwook turns around and thinks he recognizes the young man bent down. it’s park jihoon, baekhyun’s groupmate. jinwook might’ve met him once, on animal crossing, but he’s not sure. in-person meetings always stick better in his memory.

after one more second, jinwook realizes jihoon was down there fixing his insoles, so he quickly glances away. that sort of thing is between a man and his own shoes. not that jinwook would know. he steps to the sink and turns on the tap, running his hands under cool water. “i’m not sure if we met officially,” he says as he smiles through the mirror reflection. “i’m jinwook.”
