Is sadness a choice?
“well, yes and no. i think some things you can’t help. sometimes you can’t help being sad but there are some situations that you can help yourself with. there’s nothing wrong with being sad but making yourself sad, or allowing yourself to continue being sad over things you can’t change… i think that treads more into a space of it’s not good for you.” he wets his lips, hand on his shoulder as he stifles a soft sigh.
“i don’t want to say it’s unhealthy because that word has negative connotations to it. i think you have to find your own… uh… what do they call it? like a happy medium? not for everything, just when it comes to staying sad. oh there’s that saying, don’t cry over spilled milk. it’s similar to that, i guess.”
clapping his hands together, he straightens up more, nodding with a more solemn look as if this is about to be the most sage piece of advice he ever gives. “when it comes to your own happiness, don’t settle for medium there. act like it’s maccas and supersize that shit.”
Is it possible for a human to fathom the true depths of reality and existence?
“i do not believe so.” she answers, thrilled by this thought provoking question - one that reaches from the deepest of her mind and compels her to think twice before speaking. “it is not possible because humans allow for their emotions, their own biases, and their own perception to cloud their judgement which makes us incapable of understanding the true depths of reality and existence. i think it is in our nature to see the world through objective lenses, through our own experiences, our own point of view because how else are we supposed to manage our way around the world if not through having these as our basis? everything otherwise might confuse us and it might be difficult for us to understand. the fact that there is always two sides to a story, or many parts to one thing makes it even more difficult for us to rationalize reality and existence because it stretches on infinitesimally. most of our thoughts regarding this matter would be restricted to what we have witnessed and what we came to know but perhaps nothing would ever actually come close to the real thing. i am not saying it’s impossible though, simply that it’s highly unlikely. maybe some great mind out there is hoping to make leeway into something but even then, that is going to be extremely difficult.”
How do you define consciousness?
"as....the ability to think? isn't that what it means? i'm sorry i don't have some deep philisophical theory or meaning behind it. i think anything with a stream of thought is conscious. like animals and people and aliens and stuff you know?"

Is there inherent order in nature or is it all chaos and chance?
“I like to think that there’s a little of both, that chaos is actually part of the order and that chance is factored into that, even. I know that sounds weird, but think of it as a board game, you have only a certain amount of things to do, but you still occasionally have to roll a die for some chaos or chance, but in the end run, it’s all leading to the same point. I don’t know, maybe it is weird to think that way.”

As more and more is being discovered about quantum physics, we become less and less able to comprehend the nature of reality. Is this something temporary and our minds will adapt and begin to understand this new reality or is it possible that the human mind will soon reach its limits of comprehension? If it's only temporary, is there a limit to what the human mind can comprehend? If we are reaching our limits, how do we continue to study our reality?
uh— what?
Is lying something we're taught?
Eyebrows furrow and Dowoon chews on his lip, actually considering the question. Unlike the other question which was straight forward (for him at least), this one was actually interesting.
No-one had taught him to lie about how he’d felt when he was in the hospital, nor had he been taught to hide his symptoms until they couldn’t be hidden anymore.
But he had learned how to wriggle his way out of schoolwork, how to tell little white lies about his condition to get some leeway.
….It was a question without an answer, really. Not for him.
“It depends on what you mean by taught, I guess.” He finally answers, giving a shrug. “I suppose it’s more like we pick it up as we grow up. I think. I don’t know really.”
Do you believe in yourself?
"i have almost complete and utter confidence in everything that i do, some places i don’t have the same confidence but-- i don’t see why i shouldn’t have it.”
