Words can’t truly express what a mother feels as this moment arrives. All I can say is you feel extremely proud. I’ve watched my son grow and become an extremely intelligent young man. This year brought on some really emotional moments for me knowing that he would not have a traditional graduation 🎓 but one thing I do know is God makes no mistakes and I couldn’t have asked for a better time than now. I know many people participate in "Throwback Thursdays" but I've decided to do "Thankful or Thoughtful Thursdays"!  In a 24 hour time frame 4 schools in our province were in either lock down or evacuation mode due to threats against those schools.  I have heard much conversation over these events with a majority of the statements complaining about the society we live in or the school's lack of instant updating on what was happening.  I would like to choose a different reaction.  I would like to thank the teachers at RHS for participating in training that has prepared them for such situations and for the school for having policies in place to deal with it.  My girls were kept safe in their classrooms and were kept preoccupied so as not to worry or stress. I would like to send a big thank you to the first responders who were there within minutes and who never left until the threats were eliminated (perceived or otherwise) and for doing so with no thought to their own safety.  The world may be very different than what it was when I was young, but the wonderful people who step up every day to keep us safe are not.  Thank you to everyone who plays a part in making my world a better place. #thankfulthursdays #firstresponders #riverviewhighschool #smithfamilymatters #family #friends
