FLOODING. When in a romantic relationship, there will be times when you feel as though a raging river is running right through the middle of your relationship. In the moment it seems as though the divide is too great and there is no chance of repair; things just escalate.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This is what is called “flooding”; anything over 100 bpm = flooded and nothing constructive will come of the argument once you or your partner reach this threshold. Instead as a couple, you need an adult timeout, that means at least a 20-minute break until you regulate to 100 bpm or below.
