Formerly a region or rather subcontinent off the western coasts of Rivermoot, Aghul this large island was the home of the Dark Elf Empire.
The Empire was not really an Empire but 4 to 8 Kingdoms of varying power competing for control of the region and raiding the various nations for the industry of empire.
500 years ago a plan was hatched.
The Dark Elf pantheons had devised a plan to absorb 1 or more of the Elven Deities and for reasons unknown the ritual failed stripping her of all her Mantles and thus making her body fully mortal.
Which led to this as her body struck the region her death also causing a great plague and drought to hit the region crippling the nearby kingdoms for years.
(Not the destruction was less widespread and less fiery)
So over night the population of a powerful group of loosely allied kingdoms was reduced to from 3 Million to just over 600,000. Or just around 20% of the dark elf population world wide.
So what happened to that 600k?
300k Were already spread across Aghul, Rivermoot, and Arcadia. Along with many living in the Faerie Realms
But what about those in the Star Fall?
Around 25k gathered the remnants of the navy and attempted a assault/colonization effort on the Suhndaran Empire believing this a test of the goddess. The exact reasons for these actions range from temporary madness from grief to the bold idea that other kingdoms also must have suffered.
Around 25k Would travel west making landings across Koruna, Eriona, and Noleum.
Around 150k would stay within the Star Fall to attempt to recolonize and recover from the destruction and devastation. It is unknown the exact numbers of who survived the following years as the region was heavily devastated.
The last 50k would travel south.
The exodus of the dark elves loss of their pantheon has radically changed them as a people. And even with their recoverable numbers the spread and losses thanks to sunken ships and internal conflict post the Star Fall only hurt them more.
The Modern Star fall is only recently begun to be explored by other kingdoms as the region was nigh impossible to navigate or even enter.
The Star in question was Koryinth’s Corpse its exact size being unknown but it shattered the region.
Pieces of her and her angels still wash ashore across the star fall and Aghul’s coast and are incredibly valuable for magical items thanks to the powerful innate magic left.
The Star Fall is full of powerful artifacts from the past of the Dark Elf empire both in tombs lost in the sea and on dark elf pirates of the region. It is also full of monstrosities made by the dark elves that have survived and continue to live within the region. Finally the high magical potency of the region thanks to a god corpse has caused up-swells of wild magic and mutations.
