Shingeki no Shenanigans (SnK FanFic)- Eren/Levi: The Date (Modern AU)
((HAPPY BIRTHDAY KISE KUN! I know that Eren is your spirit animal, so I decided to write some PoV Eren for you (and cue the internal groaning/hair ripping). This was probably beyond the scope of what I'm capable of, and is pretty damn awful, but hey at least I tried? I hope you like my present irregardless :D))

The ocean had always captivated me for reasons beyond my understanding. There’s something about the way the setting sun reflects upon the ripple of its waves, the wondrous creatures lurking beneath its depths, the salty smell of seawater, that made it feel like a continual miracle to me. So when Levi asked me what I wanted to do this coming weekend, I answered as I always did.
"Let's go to the beach again."
"Ugh. We already went last week," a flicker of blatant annoyance crossed his face, and I cowered back slightly, pressing my lips together in disappointment. "Besides," Levi continued, "it's fucking filthy. Every time we go, it takes me three goddamn days to clean all the sand and sea salt out."
I lowered my eyes and fixed my gaze over the floorboards beneath my feet, almost kicking myself for being so insensitive, but at the same time wanting to be selfish. "Well…what would you like to do?" I finally asked, letting my disappointment weigh in on every syllable I pronounced.
Levi sighed exasperatingly. "If you like the ocean so damn much, why don't we just go to an aquarium or something? Sure as hell is more convenient than having me drive for 3 hours to the bloody beach." I watched him as he walked over towards the couch I was lying on to give me a sympathetic pat on the head. Levi was consistently this way: harsh with his words, but kind with his actions. I grabbed his hand, yanking him towards me in a hug. It was the only way I could tell him how much I appreciate it when he spoils me, since I'm just about as articulate as a goldfish. I had never been to an aquarium before; my parents were always too busy with work to even stay at home with me, much less take me to amusement parks and the like. The idea of Levi being there with me for my first aquarium visit had me feeling an inexplicable degree of joy, and I pulled him closer against my chest, hoping that my feelings would somehow be conveyed to him through our embrace.

"Tch. Well someone's early for once."
I turned away from the entrance of the aquarium, instantly perked up by that familiar voice and sheepishly grinned at Levi. "I guess I got a little excited." Almost hating myself for my inability to effectively mask my emotions, I sighed and laced my fingers together with Levi's, who had held his outstretched hand over at me, eyes flicking away from my gaze in an attempt to hide his embarrassment. But my attention was directed elsewhere. I gently tugged at his arm as I quickened my pace, heart thumping loudly in my chest as I briskly strode across the front entrance, marching directly to the cobalt blue dome labeled "aquarium" in blinding white neon lights.
What I saw next was beyond anything I would have ever imagined in my wildest dreams. I didn't know what to say, I couldn't even move. I just stood there, in front of a huge tank filled with creatures of the sea that I had so often wanted to see with my own two eyes. I felt Levi glance over at me, but he was the last thing on my mind as of right now. I stumbled forward and pushed my face against the cool glass, enchanted by the vibrant colors of the tropical fish that swam by, the powerful strokes the menacing sharks made, the curious heads of the garden eels poking from within the fine sand. A strange bubble of laughter escaped my throat, and I dragged Levi from tank to tank, marveling at surprises that awaited me in every mini ecosystem.
"You sure seem to be enjoying yourself. In fact, this is the quietest I've ever seen you." Levi commented after a while. Peeling my eyes almost reluctantly away from the glass, I looked over at him, as he attempted to suppress a smirk, those pale gray eyes gazing at me with subtle tenderness.
"Thanks..." I trailed off as Levi suddenly grabbed the cuff of my shirt and jerked me to his level, brushing his lips against mine. I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him closer, deepening the kiss, feeling the blood rush to color my face.
"Sorry...you just looked so ridiculous...I just had to...and in public too..." Levi began to explain, avoiding my gaze all the while.
"It's okay. To be honest, not even the ocean makes me happier than being with you." I said, scratching the back of my head in embarrassment.
Before he looked away, I could faintly see a slight blush bloom across his face, and couldn't help but smile stupidly while we continued down through the artificial ocean that seemed to be like a perfect grotto reserved just for me and the man that I came to fall in love with.
