#river deities

Achelous is the river god, son of Oceanus and Tethys and also the eldest of 3,000 brothers, the river deities. He is known to be the most important one because he was the river god of the eponymous river, the largest one in Greece. 

Okay so I know everyone expected a longer post from me (sorry!), but this is about how I’m going to do these little ‘god pages’. If I end up getting to make an altar today, I’ll definitely post.

Idk tbh... Since it's not even a Greek-fied name most of the time for the other rivers... Since they have seperate deities for those same rivers...

So ig they would also have another deity for the Saraswati river too??

When my heart is sore, I go to the river. When I want to forget my human separateness and remember how I am merged with nature, I go to the river. When I wish I had a sister to talk to, or a lover to hold me, I go to the river. The river is always there.

Procession to riverbank. People bear flowers, branches, and gifts for the River. Drums, incense.

At the river’s edge, officiant strips off robe (attendant receives it), and enters the water to the waist.

The last month has presented many changes, both physical and spiritual. In the past month, I've dealt with some mobility-limiting injuries, preparation for the July birthdays in my household, and the completion of two novels, ready for publication.  During this time, when I allowed myself to be still and quiet my mind, I could hear a call to connect with the gods.  With all of my real-world distractions, I wasn't making time for it.  Then I heard someone else reciting a prayer for logic, calm, and open minds.  It was so beautiful and well sung, the inspiration to write my own prayer to one of the gods with whom I work, led to the following.
