Rise Isn’t Over
OK, there is a lot to unpack and unfortunately, there will be spoilers so, avoid this post if you haven’t seen the episodes yet, but I will be putting a “Keep Reading” break under this, so don’t worry.
If I had to pick another emotion other than “blown away”, it would be mad, mad at Nickelodeon, but that’s not what this post is about. It’s just...hard for me to be sad when the whole Rise team delivered a thousand fold. Everything that I love about this show, crammed into a whole 4 episodes. You have to give the crew credit; they knew the end was coming (mostly) and they smushed what they could into these remaining 4 parts. That’s not always easy to do. I would have loved to see what happened after the Shredder was defeated. The Turtles rebuilding their home, playing around with their new abilities, DRAXUM REUNITING WITH HUGGIN AND MUNNIN, and the newly revealed Cassandra Jones being integrated into April’s school and normal life in general. Girls nights will never be had with April, Sunita, and Casey. Mutants and yokai will never be slowly accepted into society. The boys won’t connect to their ancestors and just chat with the ones they have in common with (this theory here). Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, and Susan Blu may never grace the screen again as the Council. Also Mayhem, where hath thee disappeared too?
The season is over, but we’re still getting a movie. That has not wavered. And who knows? When Netflix releases the movie, they’ll pick up the remaining 13 episodes and get them made. Or heck, a third season will get made- Oh who am I kidding? The movie better just give me girls nights out, the alchemist and his gargoyles reuniting, and mutants and yokai being accepted into human society after a big bad destroys like half the city. Oh, and the Turtles officially renaming themselves as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Until then, we still the Mad Dogs. I did predict that Shredder was the big bad in the prophecy, though I was really hoping that would be wrong. This oni who gave him these powers, STILL has the potential to be the bigger badder! I just never envisioned that may happen in the movie instead.
Ya know, just cuz this series is technically over, doesn’t mean we still can’t be utter trash to this fandom. We can still draw fanart, we can still write fanfics, we can still make OCs. Heck, we have so many prompts now to basically write the rest of the season! Just because a series stops doesn’t mean we the fans have to. We shouldn’t stop and we’re not going to. OK, now the sadness is taking over. I’m crying now. Remember, keep being a fan, keep making art, keep writing fanfics, keep creating OCs. Never let this fandom die. And keep bothering Nick, maybe Netflix a little too. But still, be civil!
Rise up, be a Mad Dog! Now and forever!
#riseisntover Say it with me: RISE ISN’T OVER!
