what if Jin is just imagining being friends with the rest of the boys. Maybe he has never experienced 'youth' due to the expectations of the people around him, as his character seems to have come from a well-off family, and encounters the rest of the boys only by chance, and they stuck on his mind, and so he created this illusion, this dreamscape, wherein he was still young and these people were his friends, his brothers. so that he would have something to make up for the loss, for all the things he never had.
(Hence the reason why he doesn't show up in the Polaroid burned by Jimin, and, since we seem to be seeing the bangtan universe in his point of view, the reason why everything's mixed up and differs with each glimpse. (different in INU / RUN / PROLOGUE / WONDER)
But--at the same time these videos also show glimpses of the rest of the boys' real life--showing Jin/the watcher how youth, as they imagined it to be, (wild, electric, free), is not how real youth works. its just an illusion. a house of cards that could stumble and fall at any moment.
It’s also why Jin is always filming--its an allusion to the fact that hes crafting/creating all these scenes as he goes.
In the awake mv, we see glimpses of how his life is: an ear piece that may allude to people controlling/dictating him (his parents / society), a dining table with a complete set yet no food, a richly furnished house. lavish, yet empty. we see how isolated he seems to be as well.
The cracked glass, which also seems to always appear with jin, plays into this idea, of the illusion breaking.
we see as well how jin was seemingly locked in his room, and the scratches in his doors, like someones trying to claw their way out. and how he's always looking out the windows.
Another thing to point out is that there are hints/allusions in regards to the solo videos of all the other members. I know the other members have hints too but it was in the awake mv that it was the most prominent:
a chained compartment - RM
a mother holding her child -Â hoseok
- there seems to be no hint about taehyung, which can be taken to mean that he is jin's shadow / hidden self
They may just be mere allusions but one fact to think about is that they were all inside his house/room. when we create illusions, we draw and imprint from the things that surrounds us, just as when we dream, we take only from things/places we have seen, whether real or not. (and we also saw them more blatantly when jin seemed to have just woken, and everything was spinning/distorted. it really plays out into the idea of an illusion being woven.)
Then lastly, for now, there's how jin is always looking at windows. i think maybe jin is the boy from the story of the omelas. but he sacrificed not for the other members but for his parents/society. so he's just locked in his room, staring out his windows. craving for more. maybe it was in those instances of window watching that he caught glimpses of the other members and began to craft that imaginary world.
another thing is how each member has their own corresponding counterpart in the real world/storyline: hoseok/jimin, yoongi/jungkook, namjoon/taehyung. its really only jin who somehow doesnt fit into all of it.
