Happy birthday in Heaven, Talia.
She would be 22 today.
She should be in college, dating and shaking the world, not lying in a grave. This little girl had a whole life ahead of her.
Cancer sucks.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share with all of you that Talia has earned her wings at 11:22am*. Please lift her beautiful soul, her beautiful light to heaven and please send your love and prayers to her family during this most difficult time. God speed little one, may you be free from pain and suffering, may your soul feel the light and love that you brought to so many of us on this Earth during the short time you were her with us. We will miss you more than you will ever know baby girl.”

Never forget this sweet girl. She has been gone 6 years now. She was only 13 and fought a brave battle against cancer. Her name was Talia Joy Castellano, she was Jewish, she wore makeup to boost her self confidence when cancer treatments made her go bald. Makeup became her wig.
She did not shy away from having the hard parts of her last days shown. She wanted the world to know cancer isn’t just a bald head and a sassy attitude. Sometimes it is pain and misery.
Talia’s mom had to do the one thing no parent wants to do: she watched her daughter gasp for her last breath.
Talia wanted to leave her mark on the world. She left one on my heart. I only knew her through her YouTube videos, but that shows her influence. She was incredible, silly, cute, brave and sweet. She is missed. May her legacy live on.

I’m ending this with my favorite video from her channel. She was a tiny ball of fun and her life ended too soon.
Happy birthday, Talia!
She would have been 19 today.
11:22am EST, July 16th
Talia Joy Castellano took her last breath 5 years ago. She was only 13. She died of cancer.
Talia shunned wigs in favor of makeup. Makeup became her wig. She felt that if people were going to stare, she wanted them to stare because of her makeup instead of her bald head. She became a beauty guru on Youtube and amassed quite a following. https://www.youtube.com/user/taliajoy18
She was a bubbly, funny, charming girl who showed the world that cancer is not a cute bald head and spunky attitude. Makeup was her war paint and she put it on to fight until her body couldn’t fight anymore.
Dying of cancer is painful. Talia wanted her last days shared because she wanted to put a face on childhood cancer and show that yes, kids do die from it.
No child should lie in a hospital bed like this.
No child should end up in the ground...
Cancer may have claimed Talia’s body, but it can not and will not touch her spirit. It is brighter than the sun and nothing can dim it now.
But she died far too soon, and other children like her are dying right now.
End childhood cancer. https://taliaslegacy.org/
8:22am pacific time is 11:22am eastern time.
Talia Joy Castellano took her last breath at this moment 3 years ago.
Cancer got her body, but it never got her soul. She is still a shining star in my memory and always will be. I never met her in person yet she inspired me to treasure every moment I have.
She was 13. Her face is the first face I think of when I hear the words childhood cancer.
Her last days of life were spent in awful pain. She didn’t deserve to suffer and die like she did. She was so young and so, so, so very brave.
Every year since her death, her family and fans like to paint their nails mint in memory of Talia’s last Instagram photo where she was showing off her mint colored nails.
I finally got some mint colored nail polish for myself, so this year I’m joining in.
I won’t let the world forget her name or her face. Talia Joy Castellano is a champion who left footprints and fingerprints on my heart.

Talia we miss you so much❤️
One year ago today on 7/16/13 at 11:22 a.m., we lost our friend Talia Castellano to childhood cancer. She was and still is one of the most inspirational and widely-recognized childhood cancer advocates in the world. We are honored to help continue Talia's legacy though the interviews we did with her before she passed away. We miss Talia terribly and fight ever day in her honor.
As a mother, I can’t help but think about 71 years of missed milestones. She would have gone to high school. She would have learned how to drive. She would have gone to prom wearing the most amazing dress, which she inevitably would have designed herself, with a flawless makeup look to match. She would have graduated high school and possibly gone off to college. After a few heartaches, she would have found the love of her life
