james is fairly certain that otsi'tsa grant would rather torch her eclectic collection of combat boots than be seen as anything remotely resembling vulnerable, break both her legs before she showed any kind of emotional weakness. so hearing how her voice shakes just that little bit as she glances away, finding the fog-covered, post-rain petrichor of the city an easier sight than james’ own hard gaze, james knows the trust behind it.

the last op had been hard. things had gone wrong. and james sees it, too, as a personal failure; part of wearing the title of leader is giving them the tools to do their job, to stay safe— and when they’re hurt, when there are mistakes and discrepancies, he can’t help but feel partially responsible. otsi’s distress mirrors and intensifies his own.

he lets out a hum, for once gentler than the weather around them. mid-november brings a chill that matches the frown usually set on his face, but tonight, something resembling reassurance cracks through.

          “------See anything up ahead?” He feels like he’s putting a little too much trust in DedSec these days. Used to be there was a time he would have avoided them like the fucking plague. (Chicago didn’t help that much. Fucking Daves.) Yet here he is, Otsi’sta’s voice in his ear, letting her direct him through a building full of people who would really, really love to see him dead. One false move on her part and he’s leaving it in a body bag.

my opinion on   ;

character in general   :   so far i’m loving otsi'tsa   ,   another wonderful yet awesomly unique hacker original character   !   dividing her time between kicking ass and taking names via computer hacking and bartending   .   i mean who doesn’t like to ruin people’s lives with a little hacking   ?  how they play them   :   she’s your character so naturally   ,   you play them wonderfully   .  every headcanon and with every reply i read i’m immediately hooked   .   the mun   :   UM we don’t talk a lot   ?   but i gotta say you seem to be ridiculously kind and appraochable   ?    but honestly   ,   your writing is great and you’re very talented hun   !

                                       “pretending?” he echoes. the tease is immediate, but his considered responds takes a moment to form, tongue over lips in thought. “the only difference between whitehat and blackhat hacking is who you report to at the end of the day. I like my coworkers. I like my boss. I like having a clean source of income.”

a pause. a frown spreads across his features.

sauntering inside she came up to the bar   ,   all seats taken   .   so the brunette just rested her folded arms against the edge of the surface   .   she searched across the room until her eyes rested upon the hacker   .   who was currently busy pouring a drink for a patron   .   a lopsided smile formed on her face once their eyes met and the realization who mia was coming like a light bulb on the top of the other’s head   .   “   can i get a whiskey   ,   straight   .   “ she announced once otsi’tsa was close enough   .

          this is why she doesn’t get attached to people who aren’t directly involved with the kind of community she’s wrapped herself up with. they don’t get it, they can’t because she doesn’t open herself up enough for them to. it’s a risk, calculated certainly, but a risk all the same. he doesn’t deserve this, not really. she comes, she goes, sometimes she stays but for the most part she doesn’t and the bruises  -  the busted capillaries, she looks like hell and won’t talk about why it happened. now he’s got her cornered, and otsi’tsa’s armed to the teeth with a lot of sarcasm and stone-faced bullshit.                ❛  a  cryptid,  maybe  a  thunderbird  or  a  ghost.  ❜  her shoulders shrug.                ❛  you  knew  what  you  were  getting  into:  don’t  act  like  a  victim.  ❜
