The 2010 Cune Gran Reserva is a blend of 85% Tempranillo 10%, Graciano and 5% and Mazuelo. Typical Rioja scents of cherry, cedar, oak, vanilla and flowers, followed by a smokiness from the oak. Cherry, smoke, vanilla, leather, licorice and floral flavors paired with lively acidity. The smoke and cherry notes paired with leather and a fine tannic finish, long in length and persistent. Matured in barrel for two years and in bottle for three. Aged in American oak with hints of sweet spices, leather. I am a big fan of Riojas and this wine is delicious! Cvne, is situated in Rioja in the traditional neighborhood of the train station, where the oldest wineries of Rioja Alta established themselves, for the main reason of transporting their goods to the port of Bilbao. C.V.N.E., Compañía Vinicola del Norte de España (The Northern Spanish Wine Company) or la Cuné, as it is commonly known in Haro, was created. This cellar still reflects the origins of the company and is kept in the traditional neighborhood of the Haro station.
