If it had been up to Rin, the concept of a partnered lab would have been left behind in high school. They were adults now, weren’t they? College was supposed to be the time where they grew as students. Gone were the days of being made to ask permission to use the bathroom, or being scolded for skipping classes. If he was expected to get himself to class on his own every day, lest his teacher simply fail him without a second thought, then shouldn’t he be allowed to do his own damn lab without being forced into this uncomfortable minefield of a social dilemma? He was more than capable of doing this alone! And yet- 

Rin shuffled awkwardly, shrinking under the other shinigami’s gaze. Or, shinigami wasn’t the right word anymore, was it? They called themselves, visored? Maybe? Spending time with Shinji as much as he did he should probably know this. 

In any case, she was rather intense, wasn’t she? Perhaps his division often attracted people with that quality. Though, he didn’t really think he shared that with the rest of them. And her intensity was different from most of the others here as well. 

"But, if it's trash anyway-?"

Rin chewed on his sweet bun with a confused expression, watching the woman beside him. Was it merely principle that was making her get so defensive? He didn't truly understand the sentiment.

The younger shinigami sheepishly scratched at his cheek, letting out a faint, nervous laugh. Well, he probably should have expected that reaction. It seemed like Shinji was often scolding him for saying something like that.
