I created a 24-colonist Fire Emblem: Three Houses Medieval Eugenics Soap Opera in RimWorld
Hi, Iβm Aotea! Back in 2025, a friend introduced me to theΒ Fire Emblem: Three HousesΒ universe, and I fell head over heels in love with the game. Sometime later, I stumbled upon a FE3H hairstyle mod by Meng De, and something just clicked in my brain. I knew I had to recreate the FE3H characters and play as them.
After a quick test run playing as just the Black Eagles (starting with 8 pawns), I got inspired to go mega-scale:Β What if I started with all 24 students at once?!
I spent a long time preparing and tweaking settings. I drew custom face textures to match the FE3H hair mods (you can find them on the Steam Workshop), while Meng De coded a mod for Crests (so they could be passed down through generations) and Nabatean ears. I installed a mountain of mods to simulate a medieval setting, improve pawn behavior and personalities, and more.
I spent about a week fine-tuning every single character, picking canonical traits even if it turned a pawn into a completely useless or insanely unbalanced unit.Β I'm an artist, this is my vision!Β Every pawn had canonical clothes, accessories, and weapons. I ran a couple of test runs with the full 24-pawn group to make sure everything worked.
According to RimWorld stats, I spent 9 days and 2 hours of actual in-game time on this save. But in reality, I dumped countless hours into it sometimes playing non-stop for a month, sometimes taking a month-long break.
Just to be clear: Iβm a casual player. I don't play RimWorld for min-maxing, hyper-efficiency, or extreme survival challenges. I love building and telling generational stories. My original end goal was the death of all original FE3H characters (or the total wipe of the colony), but I wrapped up the story earlier because... well, it turned into a routine.
Starting Setup:
Storyteller:Β Randy Random, but with save-scumming enabled.
Threat Scale:Β 85%.
Aging Rates:Β Child growth sped up by 600%, adult aging by 300% for faster generations.
Starting Gear:Β 500 survival meals, 24 sleeping bags, and basic supplies.
Tech Level:Β UsedΒ World Tech LevelΒ to lock the world into the Medieval era. No electricity, no automation, and zero mechanoids!
Genetics:Β UsedΒ Cherry PickerΒ to disable all Biotech xenos except baseline humans and the ones created by Meng De (Nabatean blood, Crest bearers, etc.). Meng De also coded baseline pawns to carry the Crestless gene.
Biome:Β Dark Forest (Medieval Overhaul) by the ocean. Itβs packed with trees, berries, and herbal medicine, but chopping trees carries a risk of spawning a wood golem that will gladly bite your butt.
No Cannibalism:Β Sure, it sounds like a great strategy for this setup, butΒ itβs not lore-accurate!Β Edelgard isn't going to butcher her enemies and eat them for breakfast!
Universal Bisexuality:Β I set everyone to bisexual just to see how relationships and pairings would dynamically unfold. All pairs are formed randomly, without my intervention.
Ideoligion:Β I created a custom ideoligion (though it could've been refined further). Its main feature was a Triumvirate leadership structure using the Republic meme. The three co-leaders were the Emperor of Adrestia, the King of Holy Faerghus, and the Leader of the Leicester Allianceβroles immediately assigned to Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude.
How the Crest System Worked:Β As far as I know, only Meng De and I have this mod right now. Crests give various stat boosts (attack speed, aim, etc.)βnothing game-breaking. A colonist can carry multiple Crests, but one dominant Crest will suppress the others so pawns don't turn into god-tier war machines. Suppressed Crests can still be passed down to future generations. Additionally, the Crestless gene can suppress all Crests. Genetic experiments at their finest!
Over time, the playthrough devolved into a comfortable routine: births, marriages, great-grandchildren, more births, more births... Even after cranked up the difficulty, raids stopped coming, and caravans or airships were nowhere to be found. I decided it was a good place to wrap up the story.
The Original FE3H Survivors:
Black Eagles:Β Ferdinand and Linhardt
Blue Lions:Β Felix and Mercedes
Golden Deer:Β Hilda and Ignatz
Current Rulers of FΓ³dlan:
2nd Emperor of Adrestia:Β Nevil (Son of Edelgard and Hubert)
3rd King of Faerghus:Β Lamberta (Daughter of Byleth and Dimitri)
5th Leader of the Leicester Alliance:Β Elysia (Son of Mona and Ignatz)
I might do another FE3H run sometime soon, but first, I need to refresh my mod list. Maybe next time I won't limit it to the medieval era (an AU scenario where Rhea accidentally teleports the students into a whole new universe...). Thanks for reading!
