In the winter the lake’s surface is cold and freezes over near the coast, because of this fish swim lower and much slower, so MDR has no problem finding food and actually packs on some winter chub to stay warm too.

When he visits Jerry topside where it’s much colder tho, he needs a lot more insulation then he has to stay warm, so he covers himself head to tail in mud!
