--Ribesal, Strange demon of the... Mountains?-----------------------------------------
A demon described in the 19th century French ilustrated demonology book, the Dictionnaire Infernal. In it, he's described as an specter dwelling on the summit of the Krkonoše mountains, a mountain range along the borders between the historical lands of Bohemia and Silesia, who has the power to cover the mountain in clouds and create storms. This description is accompanied by an illustration of the demon, portrayed as a strange chimeric goblin with a tomato for a head, with no explanation for why he's being depicted in such a manner when all of the other demon illustrations in the book match up with their descriptions. While the book itself is a catalogue of many demons well known
in occult circles or in christian lore, it also contains many beings from different folklores and mythologies portrayed as lowly pagan demons, such as with the Phoenix, the Garuda, and the hindu goddess Kali. Ribesal is one of these cases, as it's clear the being mentioned in his profile is not a demon at all, but the spirit known as Rübezahl, who is, as the profile suggested, a spirit of the Krkonoše mountains. He can take any form he pleases, but is well known for taking the forms of a giant, a wise old man or a mountain gnome. He protects the treasures of the mountain and punishes those with an evil heart, but also is helpful to the poor and those in need.
